Confirmed with Link: Frederic & Max Jones traded to Oilers for 2nd , 4th and Max Wanner

On paper and power forwards traits, Frederic should have been a cult hero in Boston.

But he could never keep his motor running consistently and he disappeared a lot when the games were bigger.

I don't think his time here was a complete waste, I just wish he played with more fire and gusto. Good luck to you, Freddy!
Not sure where the agitation went in his game. Seemed to have lost his motor when he lost it.

Where’s the guy who said the Bruins would get at least a first for Frederic and proceeded to laugh at anyone who suggested the return would be less?

Good work, and I emphasize work, from Sweeney. It must have taken a lot to pull together the moving parts here. He got good value for TF. Edit: this also signals a sell off as they moved a good prospect in Lachance presumably to get a mid second rounder.

The Bruins made their first move of trade deadline season on Tuesday, dealing forwards Trent Frederic and Max Jones to the Oilers.

Boston announced that it had acquired Edmonton prospect Max Wanner, a second-round pick in this year’s draft, and a fourth-round selection in 2026.

Frederic, who has become something of a fan favorite as a bottom-six grinder with a willingness to drop the gloves, had his most productive season in 2023-24 with 18 goals and 22 assists. Those numbers have dipped amid a difficult season for the Bruins, with Frederic posting just 15 points almost three-quarters of the way through the season.
Jones has played just seven games for Boston this season, largely spending his time with AHL Providence.

Wanner, Edmonton’s seventh-round pick in 2021, has yet to see the ice for the Oilers. The 21-year-old defenseman has posted 19 points over 90 games with the AHL Bakersfield Condors over the last two seasons.

In facilitating the trade, the Devils received Boston University captain Shane Lachance.

That's a late second but still a good move.

If we can dump Carlo and Coyle before the end of the week that is excellent business.

Said it in the roster thread but that's an overpayment by the Oilers.

Why you give up a prospect with something resembling upside + a 2nd rounder for BIG FRED baffles me. Dude f***ing stinks. Which idiot is in charge of that or--

Oh. Makes sense. Carry on!

Mckeen's scouting website had this to say about Wanner

Sounds eerily similar to Brandon Carlo.
Maybe Carlo is next to be traded and Wanner will take his spot?

Good return, wish Freddy the best.

Is it unrealistic to hope Wanner could be a 3rd pair guy like McQuaid? I don’t know anything about him, but sounds like a big guy with bite in his game based off what we’ve seen.
