If we're dumping Kapanen, we can just waive him. He only makes a million, we can bury all of that.
Frederic is better than Greenway who just got $4m. Unless the Oilers go longer term, which I think I'd be ok with, then they could bring the AAV down to 4, I guess partially depending on playoff performance.
If it's a 2 year deal? I expect around $5m. He's American too so it could be a dicey re-sign. I'm kind of disliking the trade the more I think about it., they could have very well paid this price for a few regular season games and one playoff series of Frederic.

I mean fair, I'm also suggesting because he makes so little it's easy to flip him for balance purposes, plus he's a pending UFA, so no additional years for the team that gets him.

The chess pieces are still wet and chipped from Lowe breaking them and Chia drooling all over them.
At least Lowe knew we needed a goalie and traded for one. For a bad GM as well, he gets kudos for that. Bowman and JJ? Who need goaltending when we have Skinner and Pickard!

I think Skinner or Arvidsson would be smart for them if they are willing to waive. Probably won’t cost much. Shows team that they are still adding.

The fact that EVERY talking head is saying the same thing is a very obvious tell word has come from on high to support Stu. I'd believe this was organic (okay, I wouldn't, but it would be much less sus) if even one of member of the broadcast or MSM was sounding the alarm here. That they aren't suggests someone with the power to do so has made it known that media passes and jobs next year are conditional on not criticizing Skinner.
The egos of this front office and owner will be the stuff of documentaries years from now. It's appalling stuff.

Keep in mind that he had the luxury of a prime Mattias Ekholm, something Mike Smith was never afforded...and even Smith played vastly better than Skinner has in the playoffs. But hey, that one Dallas series was amazing. LOL.
We saw what he could do and it's pathetic. Time to move on.

It’d be one thing if they wanted to keep things quiet while they move him. Or I get it even to protect him a bit in a rabid market. But if it’s because they don’t want negativity for the organization not addressing problems then that’s pretty bad. Whatever it is, I feel genuine discussions and opinions of the fan base are being ignored.

Trade Stu for Jake Allen & trade Pickard for Anton Forsberg, give the team new goaltending options, guys to compete with eachother and pending UFAs with a chance to get paid at the end.
