I was a proponent of bringing in Klingberg, but I would rather see him waived than Stetcher. Klingberg might get better next year with more time under his belt but Troy is more versatile at this point in the season as a depth guy.
Both would get exposed heavily against a big team in the playoffs. Adding Walman gives us the option of having neither guy in the lineup.

In December there was a public narrative of a lot of mutual interest and expectation that a deal would be made rather quickly. After that nothing happened, Emberson randomly changed agents and everyone just stopped talking about it.

To repeat myself, pure speculation but I wouldn't be surprised if he was moved tomorrow in whatever deal they want to make for a forward.
I suspect you might be right. His physicality has kind of waned a bit too so I wonder if maybe he could be included in a deal for say Connor Murphy?

That's an interesting thought, I wonder who they deal him for? Kovasevic?

Bouchard did pretty well. “Defending the net” is a very overrated notion. The best defenders in the league right now are neutral zone defenders who can deny the zone and transition up the ice. Hughes, Makar aren’t net front defenders- they are great puck retrievers and excellent at exiting the zone. Bouchard is right up there with him. The Oilers got in trouble with Florida last year not because of net front defence- it was because only Bouchard could successfully exit the zone. Broberg had the highest efficiency- but he barely touched the puck. A second transition dman is huge.

Knobs system is positional. Box out in front. Walman is decent at that and will get better on the Oilers

Every team can benefit from a Hughes and even a Bouchard but they're not going to be clearing Stone and Eichel out of the crease on the PK in the final minute of the game. As much as every team needs a PP QB, Every team --- and this applies DOUBLE to teams with shaky goaltending -- needs defenders who can defend elites in zone around the net and break cycles. One LD and One RD is kinda the minimum in my mind.

then our only RD after Bouch the baker would be waiver fodder like Klingberg and Stecher

lol- don’t use JFresh. NHL_sid is better. I haven’t seen anywhere that he is a turnover machine. From Sid- he has an excellent first pass, great shot, pretty good defender, not a great rush defender. Walman was also only a -1 on that San Jose team.

The way the Oilers play- they need better transition. Coffey and Knob are all about moving it fast out of our zone and he does that

He is a way better 2nd pair than Klingberg. He is a legit top 4. Moves the puck well, good skater, great shot. Apparently he is super competitive and willing to get his nose dirty. I think this is the perfect partner for Nurse to be honest
He was a -1 and played the majority of the season with Ceci.

Yes. Walman is a good PK’er. What makes you think that if someone is good offensively they are bad in front of the net? Like I said the best players at this are two way defenders. Sure- you get a cycle buster- what’s he going to do with the puck? Turn it back over? Off the glass and out so the other team just punches it back in?

I mean I was told a 5/6 LHD (walman will probably be our 5)

And a Middle six winger to play with Leon. The question is: Will Trent Fredric be the middle six winger? Or do we add a better winger

This is where we are at. I want to say we add a real winger now that this Kane BS is settled the way we thought it would be.

Unfortunately for most on here a goalie is off the table. (We can always dream)
In my opinion, its competition between Walman and Kulak
