I mean who is out there, that's the tough part.

This might take some digging but for anyone who might want to find it someone said to me there is an article out there stating The Oilers have their own analytics on Stu Skinner and they are much better than the ones posted by the public

I guess if it's Akey and a 1st I can live with it. Seeing how Akey hasn't recovered to his top level after injury. I thought a 1st would be enough on its own. Walman is 29 and just breaking out this season. There's no history in saying he can be consistent. It's a gamble but if he keeps pace and keeps progressing then all is good.

Get a goaltender upgrade and I'll be ecstatic.

Even then it’s risky. He is half a season removed from being a pure cap dump and his second half game has taken a hit. A 1st should be enough.

Are you suggesting he comes in as a 3rd body to the farm or displaces fatty or Calvin?

Ain’t nobody sane trading for a non NHL roster goalie at the TDL to come in and play meaningful games for a team expected to go deep in the playoffs

You can make this deal in the summer if it’s really something worth doing.

I’m suggesting to get them now as a possibility try them out in the last 20 games. See if he could be the guy he’s 25 years old. He’s been a pro for five years and just because he hasn’t proven it yet. You never know shut up a long shot, but someone was expecting picker or stew to lead them to the cup this year after the way they’ve been playing it’s far from ideal obviously he’s an unproven girl. He’s never really cleaned the IL but the guy has as much pedigree as student. He just has never gotten a shot.

Bob just said he believes there will be no goalie added. He also added if the Oilers get knocked out in the playoffs and it’s on the goaltending- there will be a significant shift in the offseason.

My question- why waste a playoff run? Make that change now

Even if it's a 1st+Akey, as long as Walman can keep his play up with slightly less minutes, I'm pretty stoked with Bowmans TDL so far. He paid up for sure, but I really like the targets. I can't really fault him if he doesn't upgrade the goalies either, as I myself can't see someone who is an obvious upgrade that isn't full of risks.

Is it? Paying Bouchard 11 million may be the dumbest contract in history. I'm not advocating trading Bouchard, but if he wants too much ya I would consider it.

Man I really hope they didn’t trade O’Reilly for Walman. I mean I’d trade him but it’s gotta be for more. I could see him in the NHL in a couple years, not way far into the future. I like his toolkit too, he’s gonna be good for us hopefully

At least upgrade on Pickard. We need a backup that can fill in for multiple games in a row when Skinner starts playing bad. Pickard can’t seem to play 2 good games in a row.

Like I said, I heard the Oilers had some of their own Analytics that suggested their own goalies are playing better than the analytics we see.

But to answer your question: I guess there isn't a "good enough" upgrade that makes sense? They really dropped the ball with Blackwood

Wallman might very well be an interim insurance policy depending on how those negotiations go when they get down to it.

He’s not a replacement in the truest, but if things go sideways at least you have a stop gap in the role until a real replacement can be found.

I think our number 1 need is a top 6 forward, but ill be the first to admit I am not good at evaluating goalie talent so I just stay out of the subject.

I do know that our goalies aren't good.
