Don't think Katz was limiting Holland in spending on scouting. Feel like he's given his GM's an open book to add whatever they need.

I would venture to say 90% of the personnel this team employs in a front office/hockey ops capacity are suboptimal at their jobs. The coaching staff gets some grace for having run such efficient special teams last year, but even that's come into question with their treatment of J. Skinner, Bouch, and the goalies this year.

You just can't win like that, and it all boils down to Daryl Katz being very, very poor at making important hires. He is going to go down in history as a close second to Pocklington for worst owner in local sports.

Overpaying for a goalie given the situation makes sense. Overpaying for a depth D or forward does not. I'd be perfectly fine with an overpay for Binnington for instance.

I thought that Binnington was off the table? I don't think any player of that quality is heading the Oiler's way. Probably a few more AHL'ers to help out in Bako.
