...yeah that was cool.

Last thread bit 1k, can be found [here].

Last few posts:

No were not. He's not destined. Destined would mean he's for sure going to be a PWF. You can never know with prospects. Plus im sick of getting prospects for our proven players and then failing. If we trade Eberle its for a proven defensemen imo. Call me what you guys want, but thats how we should trade our proven players. Not for projects

Plus we have a player like him with a bit less physicality, Reinhart

Rundblad is beyond useless at this point.

Big no thanks.

We cannot keep on banking players who could become something. We need to go after proven players who can come onto the team and fill the holes we currently have.

plus Gubs is a top six defensemen with top 4 potential? Reminds me of Reinhart

Except Gudbranson plays the right side, and is better than Fayne and Schultz.

I think we can sign a better dman in FA then by trading a 20 goal scorer for a dman that MIGHT become a top 4 dman. Rather go for proven then a project who hasn't proven anything in 6 years

A Hendricks-Letestu-Kassian 4th line by the end of the year is doable.

Obviously the hope is we can get a 3rd liner out of him.

Question is, as an RFA is he worth the 2M qualifying price? That'll be the question.

If Kassian works out... I'd love to see a lineup like this next year:

Hall Drai Eberle
Pouliot Mcdavid Yakupov
Slepyshev RNH Kassian
Hendricks Letestu Korp

Klefbom Buff (Hoping we sign him)
Nurse Sekera
Davidson Reinhart
Gryba/Fayne

That might actually be an almost respectable lineup

That's basically the same lineup as this year... the definition of insanity. Will be an absolute shocker if Eberle and potentially RNH are on this team next season; both definitely will not be. Defensive help is needed; Buff alone does not alleviate this team's defensive issues.

Laleggia-Nugent Hopkins-Kassian

Laleggia will never make it to the NHL IMO.

He was moved to forward because his size was an issue playing defence in the AHL.
He doesnt have the skill to compensate for his lack of size to be an NHL player.

That wasn't it at All.

He was moved to forward because we have a log jam at d down there for the time being And Laleggia is the only d with enough skill to even play forward.

I heard an interview (cant recall with who) and it was stated that Laleggia had issues defending due to his small stature.
Makes sense considering he is 5'9" tall.

As a forward its a better fit but the man simply doesnt have the high end skill set to overcome his size and become an NHL player.

I am willing to bet money on that.

Well, if Marc Andre Bergeron can bounce around the NHL for almost 500 games as a power play specialist. Don't see how Joey can't get a taste as well. Both are about 5'9 iirc. Thinking he could very well help a good team with strong d depth with sheltered minutes.

I like Joey. (end post?)

He has some scrappiness that would suit the oilers as a "diminutive" tweener, nuge-linemate or ever debringcat clone.

As far as ppqb goes...I don't think they exist anymore.

Bergeron was 200 lbs when he played...almost 20 lbs heavier than Laleggia.

I wouldn't waste your time dreaming about a storybook outcome...Laleggia is an AHL player.

Rundblad is on waivers. This is an absolute no brainer. Unless someone below us puts in a claim, he'd better be an Oiler.

So he's the same size as Krug then. Look I understand he will never dress up in an Oiler jersey. Never expected him to. But a strong defensive team with pp deficiencies will always look for these type of guys.

Also, I don't dream of him being an oiler. Lol.

Fair enough.

I have had very limited viewings of the player so I have to go by the opinions of people watching the AHL on a regular basis.

The book on Laleggia is that he just doesn't have enough game to overcome his size to play in the NHL. Based on my limited viewings that opinion seems pretty accurate.

So any talk of him playing in the NHL seems like video game fantasy stuff to me.

Why?

He's been nothing but terrible defensively for the last 2 years.

His numbers suggest he isn't really good on the PP.

Can't skate.

He's Ryan Whitney after the injury. The one that everyone wanted to trade.

Sounds like your describing a prototypical Oilers d man. In all seriousness though, hes not that good

I think the question you need to ask...is Runblad better than the existing # 6/7 dman currently on the team?

Possibly with all the injuries, but Rundblad has another year left on his deal. If he had an expiring contract I would be ok with a claim, but that extra year makes it unlikely he is claimed by anyone.

I wonder if all the people writing laleggia off are the same ones who wrote Davidson off? Fact is you don't know ****. So stop acting like you do.

I believe his contract is $1M per up until the end of next season...i cant see how that would be a deterrent to anyone.
Unless of course they are at the 50 contract limit.

At that price the risk is very low even if you have to bury him in the AHL.

I take him over Ference,Fayne,Nikitin,Schultz,Gryba, and more than likely Hunt any day

I would take Gryba ahead of Runblad. In terms of play Schultz is a toss up for me...so is Nikitin.

I agree about Ference though. I think its Runblads contract that makes this intriguing.
