Speculation: Trade Rumors: Part IV

i'm not putting stock into anything eklund says. all you have to do is look at a defenseman thats rumored to be available and say hey anaheim is looking at them and chances are you're right.

that being said, i do think we are in the market for petry though i've thought that long before eklund gave his two cents.
I think Petry would be an okay pickup but he's not worth much more than a second rounder and a decent prospect. Rental Petry is nowhere near a first or a top prospect.

Things are happening!!! :scared:

On Phanuef, I agree with those saying TO is doubtful to retain anything meaningful. Would sending Stoner the other way as a semi-salary dump for the next 3.5 years be enough to make Dion's salary more palatable? After that we'd just be looking at his 6.5, 6.5, and 5.5 million.

I think they have to retain something. 2 is probably too much but 1-something is possible, in my view. If they really want to get rid of these guys and help their rebuild. They handed out a lot of bad contracts.

I'd think so as well, but there's really not a ton of pressure on them right now to move him, they could stand pat on refusing to eat salary and try their luck at the draft.

[note] I edited my previous post, mixed up the 3.5 years remaining of Stoner's contract, not Dion's.

I think that's definitely possible but they also want to move Kessel, Bozak and Lupul too and they have big long contracts, as well. Can they move all four players at the draft?

I keep hearing about rumors of Polak. I would be pretty happy with this. Not to mention we would then have picked up 3 Czech players at the deadline (insert a Czech Mate joke here). I really think that he is the value type player BM would go after.

Maybe Bob is getting into Czechs now. The swedes have worked out so well, I hope the Ducks continue to look to europe for skill.

Not me. Polak is not a top 4 defenseman imo. I don't see him as much of an upgrade over Lovejoy personally.

I agree he's not an upgrade over Lovejoy. I'll take the known commodity of Fowler/Lovejoy chemistry over an upgrade in just physicality with Polak. If we can't get an undeniable upgrade there's no point to a move.

Replace Rakell with Karlsson and I could support this trade :yo:

Theodore will become an NHL PMD one day, but I doubt it is with the Ducks with Fowler/Lindholm/Vatanen ahead of him. Karlsson won't be effective as a 4th line center, so I'm not sure we're going to see much of him in the next few years anyways with the recent emergence of Rakell.

This makes sense, and the time really is now to make a push. But ideally, I'd like to make sure Kesler is extended before moving Karlsson. I like Bill's upside, and beyond Wagner I don't see much else in the pipeline as far as center depth goes. We're pretty thin as it is, should Rakell, Getz, or Kes be sidelined at any point of this season/playoffs, with no Karlsson I'm not sure what that would look like for us. Maybe Fleischmann fills in?

Agreed. I'd rather not trade him.
