Wasn't Arizona asking a lot for Vermette? Would Chicago overpay for this one season when Kane is out?
But Richards contract may be expiring this year so they might be able to sign Vermette beyond this season, so it could work out for them.

If they already can't afford to keep Sharp there's no way they can afford to sign Vermette to the 6M he's rumored to want.

That is an absurd price. I'm glad BM didn't pay that. Go get a defenseman under contract...give up assets for that

Always really liked Vermette. He's going to be good for them and make them a lot harder to succeed against. That said, they'll have to do incredibly well to justify that price. Quite the year to be a seller.

i know this may be their last year to win before cap issues bite, but damn that was highway robbery for a rental.

if they sign him, which i doubt they can...cap says hello, it would be better.

I don't know why GM's have been trading so many 1st round picks this year when they didn't seem to want to trade them last year.

I can't remember who but someone more reputable suggested Atkinson if the deal IS with Columbus. Eklund is stealing ideas.

i'm not putting stock into anything eklund says. all you have to do is look at a defenseman thats rumored to be available and say hey anaheim is looking at them and chances are you're right.

that being said, i do think we are in the market for petry though i've thought that long before eklund gave his two cents.
