Teddy Purcell for Rene Bourque. Purcell is just not a fit here, never has been.

I dislike Bourque more, he's a worse player and extremely inconsistent with his effort level, that said he costs less and we can bench him or waive him to the AHL, so I don't really care.

Theres no way that the Oilers deal RNH. You don't want a combination of McDavid and Draisaitl to be your 1&2 Cs in a very tough western conference. Although i have complete faith that McD and Drai have the tools to get it done, they don't have all of them just because of lack of experience. RNH has 4 years of NHL hockey under his belt whereas the other two guy have a combined 40 games. If anyone from the core is going to get dealt it has to be a winger. Most likely it will end up being Eberle, Hall, or Yak plus some chip ins to get some help on the back end. RNH is just too valuable for the Oilers because of the lack of experience down the middle, plus that would leave a big hole in centre depth.

Alright I'll take my comments back after last night, if Hall keeps playing like he has the last two games please don't trade him.

I say we just wait it out for now and then once we know how awful we might be after 20ish then consider moving future pieces to secure players for right now.

Our 2016 1st should be able to land us a good d-man if we want. Factor in Nurse also joining the fight and next year at least should be OK. I'd really like to be able to upgrade the D during this season though.

There's definitely some positive signs with this team right now, if we could just reinforce the D to give us better break outs and perhaps get a big point shot for the PP, that would be huuuuuge.

Byfuglien is what this backend has been screaming for.

Ticks pretty much every box we need on the backend and the added bonus of probably being available too. Sure it may offer up trouble down the road, but I'd hope we deal with that when we get there.

So, hypothetically speaking of course, what do you see being the 'cost' of getting him? 2016 1st round pick? That and a bit? That and a lot?

The Oilers' 2016 1st round pick should be sufficient. If not, I'd be hesitant to make that the center piece of the trade.

Fayne + Yakimov + 2nd should be the alternative offer.

Well, you sold me on it... lets get it done! ;)

Seriously, I avoid the main boards (the rumour board) because of how seriously people take their own trade proposals... they all too often act like the trade is going to happen. It is fun to speculate though... and day dream a little.

Fayne, Pouliot, 2nd for Simmonds and L Schenn

Laleggia, 1st, 3rd for Buff

Suddenly, we are Habs fans making trade proposals:sarcasm:

Columbus needing a shake up. I'd love to pry Dubinsky or Hartnell out of there.

Yeah, there's a lot of pieces that Columbus has that I'd love to have here.

If their slow start continues on for a while I could definitely see them looking to make some moves. I can't see how they won't improve though.

Why trade for someone we might be able to get for nothing but money on July 1?

That and Gryba is doing 90% for us already of what Buff can bring. Im really impressed with him so far! The trades we made for lesser lights are the ones that are the most beneficial for us, that is true in all sports and on good teams. Rarely do the big splash trades turn out as good as expected.
