Rumor: Trade Rumor Thread Part VI: Gaborik for Peanuts

If we trade Gaborik I would look into shipping him to boston. Boston still has a great prospect pool as well as gritty top six forwards this team desperately misses.

I was thinking Lucic, Jared Knight and a RD maybe Seidenberg for Gaborik third round pick. Lucic would be a great fit in our top 6 playing either opposite Callahan or Nash. Seindenberg has a booming slapper that this team could desperately use. Knight is an interesting prospect he has amazing potential, but injury concerns.

They don't want to end up like Nashville and New Jersey. Losing a marquee player for nothing. Anaheim wants to sign Perry. If Perry doesn't want to sign before the deadline, they need to trade him. They will trade him.

Or, since they are doing so well this season, they try their luck and try to win a Cup this season instead of blowing up their core. They are 17-3-3, the chances of them dealing Perry before the deadline is really not as high as you think.

no way Bruins move him for Gaborik.. he is a fan fav and after Chara is gone i bet Lucic is the next Bruins captain although id pick Bergeron...

maybe a Morrow reunion with Richards is in the future??

Morrow for Boyle??? i dont know what Morrow's value is. i bet its more to Dallas than what they would receive in a trade

not a bad idea really. Morrow is not the same player but as a rental UFA reuniting with Richards does make sense.

I mentioned him like a month ago;)

If Dallas gets into bidding they will probably fetch a good draft pick or forward prospect with upside. From the Rangers, Boyle maybe, if not they might try for Christian Thomas.

I also wanted Voynov two years ago and McClement as our 3rd line Center last year. Could have gotten them for picks.

Look, I like Gaborik, but I think Boston would rather relocate than trade a guy like Lucic for him.

Am I the only one who thinks it highly unlikely Gabby gets traded to another eastern conference team?

No, I agree. I do think it would take a long time to find a good partner and deal for him. Better part of the offseason, likely. If we can find any way to keep everyone for another year, i'd got hat route.

As I think? Bob McKenzie and Darren Dreger have both discussed Getzlaf and Perry. They said Getzlaf would sign. He did. They feel Perry won't re-sign by the deadline and he will get traded.

LeBrun wrote about it last week

It’s going to be awfully interesting to see how the Ducks play it as April 3 approaches if those two stars still haven’t re-signed. Just my own gut feeling: I think a Getzlaf extension will get done, but I’m not sure about Perry at this point.

On the one hand, you figure there’s no way you can afford to trade Perry, given that the Ducks are challenging for first overall in the NHL standings.

On the other hand, every GM in the league watched as Nashville kept Ryan Suter past the trade deadline last season, as did New Jersey with Zach Parise. Then the GM saw both players walk out the door July 1, getting nothing in return.

This is just me guessing, but there’s a real chance the Ducks contemplate trading Perry if he’s not signed by April 3, no matter their position in the standings. Again, no one has told me that; it's just me reading the tea leaves, especially when you consider how sour the Ducks were after losing Justin Schultz to free agency last summer.

Boston recalled Jordan Caron today. He is playing with Kelly and Peverley. The Rangers liked Caron in 2009. Boyle for Caron. The Rangers already traded for another player they liked in 2009. Timmy Erixon.

With Edmonton struggling, will management be pressured to deal for some defense helo?

DZ for Eberle/Yakupov

Sather should look to get someone like David Savard from the Jackets. Jackets have a glut of defensive prospects and he is caught in a numbers game.
He fills a hole in our pipeline and should be NHL ready next season. At worst he is a #6D/PP specialist from the right side.

Aren't Gaborik and Chara good buddies? There's a lot of good prices in Boston but I would seriously fear Gaborik on that team. He'd have a lot of room out there with that physical team.

Rangers were in in Nathan Horton a couple seasons ago too weren't they?

I think he would largely look like the way he does on this team. The Bruins are a grinding straight ahead team. Gabs isn't going to get a whole lot of great passes. The guys who excel there are big bullying type of players...

I don't think he would look all that better there. Now Detroit or Pitt? Yeah, he would look very good on those teams...

At the draft, what about Gaborik to Nashville? Maybe they're looking for that legitimate first line player? If they want him, my main target would be Colin Wilson. I also like Gabriel Bourque. Could be another Callahan in the future. Blum and Ellis could be targets on defense. I think that Nashville could make some sense for Gaborik's destination.

He is a UFA . We would need more than him for a signed Gabby unless we knew he would sign with us .
