Staal has option to walk in a year . I love Staal but NYR did have best season in a long time with him out of lineup for half of it last year

So? He was the best defenseman in the playoffs. We saw how well he was playing there.

And him being out for so long directly caused McD and Girardi to be burned out by playoff time.

Parting with Staal? Really? I don't think we can just give up one of our D-men and struggle ourselves. We don't really have that much depth. Or McI should step up and replace Staal... Man, I love O'Reilly but sacrificing Staal is a tough decision to make.
 
At some point NYR have to think about locking up Staal and Or G long term or trading for assets is all I'm saying . I am a huge Marc Staal fan . Staal and a first or Staal and EJ for ROR is worth considering

Del Zotto apparently would get ROR, why are we now talking about Staal for him? smfh

Ok, but we can't even begin contract negotiations until the last year of their deals...

if McIlrath was ready to go, I'd have no problem moving Del Zotto in a deal for ROR. He's not though from all reports, and I dont think weakening our defense is a good idea.
 
MDZ for ROR then def . DGMW like I said I really love Marc Staal especially in our division but not sure he is here for his career .
 
If we trade DZ for O'Reilly and Staal walks to Carolina, yikes is all I'll say.

If Marc leaves, I'll be a very unhappy man. Staal is a gem for us, very big one. Take him away and we look much worse IMO, now without Sauer, and really missing a 6/7 guy.
 
I think after Staal lays the Thunder Bay on Ovechkin two or three times tonight, these trade offers will be rescinded.

going to give up our best defenseman for him when we can give up MDZ who isnt signed like staal is and staal is a bigtime player and MDZ isn't
 
That pass to Stepan yesterday is why I worry about trading him. How many players let alone defensemen can make that play on the Rangers. I think Del Zotto is the only defenseman that can.
 
nothing for ROR. That's one trade I can get behind. If not, then Nothing for nothing for nothing is my secondary choice.
