From what I gathered, Kessler does NOT hate AV.

I suggested a Cally for Kessler trade earlier this season and did some due diligence to see if it was in fact a pertinent trade - especially on that front.

AV suggested Kessler wasn't playing up to the level he could have played at. Kess was injured, that's what he blamed his troubles on. AV came out and said he disagreed and that the onus was on the player to stop making excuses.

AV shortly lost the locker room after that as he threw Luongo under the bus too several weeks later.

Kess' agent and Kess themselves came out saying there was no rift between him and AV. I'm sure it may have been a little awkward afterwards, but both sides were adamant that dislike and hate were not part of the aftermath.

It may not be ideal for Kess to be reunited with AV, but it doesn't appear that he "hates" him either.

"He doesn't want to light him on fire and then pee on him to douse the flames, he just wants to punch him in the mouth. I think it could work."

It's definitely sad that it has come to this.

Cally and Girardi embody a team that really turned the tide for this franchise.

Initially, I thought Cally would be the one to stay. I suggested trading Girardi as he didn't really fit the coach's system. As the season progressed, Girardi adapted better, and you could see how important he was to the success of the team. I reassessed and decided Cally would be the better of the 2 to trade to recoup assets.

That was when the team looked inconsistent, lost, not united. Whatever has happened, they've connected. The fun is back.

It's sad that the agents had to get involved in this manner. I don't blame the players for seeking the most money. Selfish nature is natural in all of us, especially when it comes to setting a comfortable lifestyle for you and your family for life.

But as a fan, I'm sad to see that one is all but gone, and the other seems to be following suit. It's a shame it has come to this. I don't have a particular connection to either, but they represent a period of time that offered a lot of fun and excitement as a Rangers fan.

I think it'll be a bittersweet day when they are both gone. More people need to realize this.

Dubinsky, Callahan, Staal, and Girardi marked the departure of the dark years. I'm still hoping at least one of them retires a career Ranger.

all i know is i DO NOT want to resign cally and girardi and keep everything status quo.

at the same time, we cannot afford to make any moves that dont make us both younger and more skilled. this team continues to suffer from a lack of offensive ability.

whatever we do, we need to get more skilled- up front especially.

Couldn't agree with this more. It's not the idea or occurence of the Nash trade. It's the fact the half the team was gutted after finishing 1st and going to the ECF. You add to that, you don't gut it.

People keep forgetting how flawed that roster was. We shouldn't be pretending that a bounce here or there would've gotten us to the finals let alone the Cup.

We had zero offense and won the games we did on a wing and a prayer.

I'm not saying that consistency and chemistry aren't important but what good are they on a team that has no shot at anything except a miracle run to the East Finals?

The holes in the lineup needed to be addressed... we can always debate on "how" that is done, but it needed to be done.

I too, am sad that their agents are doing their jobs.

I've been trying to find the strikethrough font for a while (obviously not trying hard enough). How do I do that on here?

Still no word on any of the 2nd tier guys like Boyle, Moore or Stralman. What's the plan? Let them all walk at the end of the year?

I think the F.O is ok with letting any of them go afterwards. No pressure to get assets for them.

It could be the FO is content to play them out and then re-sign - or sign similar players - in the offseason.

By the same token, however, the early rumors usually surround the big names and you generally don't start hearing about the 3rd/4th liners and bottom pair guys until hours before the actual deals go down.

And yet another factor is that they may want to have a better fix on what's going on with Girardi and Callahan before deciding what to do with Stralman, Boyle, et. al. Internal dominoes, if you will.

and [./s]

(without the period)

Many thanks. In response to what you said. Staal is definitely my favorite. Quiet but he's awesome. I blindly rooted for him from when he was drafted. Remember all the mistakes he used to make when they threw him into the fire? He would make some of the most idiotic mistakes. But one year he just put it all together, and it was ****ing awesome to watch. I enjoyed watching his progression as a player and his development from highly touted prospect, to decent rookie with flaws, to rock solid defenseman.

I've been rooting for him through these concussion problems and that eye injury was horrifying. I was literally 10 rows off the ice directly in front of where it happened and my stomach dropped as I knew the puck had hit him (not that it wouldn't have dropped if it wasn't for anyone else, but him in particular).

If he goes too (in addition to the other 3), it'll suck.

Wow, too much craziness floating around;
Rather than what I think this or that tweet means, or betting what they'll actually end up doing, I'll just say what I'd do, based on who seems available;

I'd do Cally + conditional for MSL.

I'd swap a good (not top) prospect and a pick, maybe two, for Curtis Glencross. and Id sign Girardi long term.

Maybe not as exciting as some of whats in the air, but it'd make them real solid.

I am a huge fan of GlenX, and think he will be a great pick up... but he is definitely a Burkie type of player.. although after seeing him re-sign Stajan and Russell... I don't know anymore.

Bourque, Hrivik, 2nd? Sign me Up.

Kristo, Hrivik, 2nd? Yeah.

Fast/Lindberg... yeah I'm not opposed, but would rather the Org not trade NHL pieces that can play defensive role as winning teams need cheap contracts playing 3rd 4th line and contributing.

Kristo is a top 6 or bust type player... has highest scoring ability out of the Rangers pro prospects... better shot than Miller.. I'd do Kristo, Bourque, 2nd for GlenX.

Stralman should have been re-signed already. By all accounts he's asking for reasonable money, and the Rangers get the added benefit of leverage at the negotiating table with Girardi.

Moore and Boyle can wait. So can the RFAs. It's going to be a busy summer though. And I'm sure AV will have his say, as he should.

It's not just Vatanen for me though. Need more. OTT 1st, Etem/Kerdiles/???

OTT 1st won't even be a lottery pick. It's not crazy to sacrifice that one.

Doubt Ottawa makes the POs'.

That said, any team not in the PO's is a lottery team.

Ottawa could be the highest non playoff team and their pick can still win 1st overall.

the limited slider of only moving 4 spots is no longer in play.

14th CAN move to 1st overall.

Likely? No. But it can happen
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Also, not directed at you RGY, but Vatanen is in the minors not because of his play. It's a numbers game with bodies.

The only other guy they could sent down without hitting waivers is Lindholm and that's not happening.

We should know what that is all about as we complained about Kreider getting teh yo-yo treatment.

Regardless of his on ice play, Vatanen was going to be the guy getting farmed.

Hope it's "resign them all," I've been so happy with our bottom six + defensive depth this year. I don't think most of the rest of the league has resigned its Boyles/Stralmans/Moores/Pouliots yet, I don't want to get nervous.

Seeing the guys brought up through the system like Anisimov and Dubi leave, and possibly Callahan and Girardi as well, in the span of just 2 years is ****ed up and rather ridiculus. ):

It's hard to predict what losing Girardi would do to our defense, but Slats could rather easily line up a separate trade for a rental d-man capable of eating 15-18 minutes/game. Trading deadlines usually contains a couple of those deals.

Glencross has a NMC. Usually, when he is included in proposals, Flames fans appear stating that CG signed a hometown discount deal to stay with the Flames, as he has built a farm or something and loves it up there.

Stralman is a no-brainer to resign in either case IMO. In that interview someone posted about a month ago it seemed he and his family really loves it in the NY area and that they'd love to stay. I'm sure he can be resigned to fair, cap-friendly deal. I don't think his value as a rental is high enough, the value for the Rangers lies in keeping him. He's been real solid this season and seems to fit AV's system perfectly.

Thanks for the Glencross update. Oh well...just have to wonder if Calgary sees him as a key piece...maybe...he's young enough that in 3 years they could be a playoff team again...then again, it is Brian Burke up there and his record with Toronto wasn't too impressive...

Just hate to see Glencross end up on philthy...

TH,

Would love Glencross. Many on here have told me he'll cost a fortune to pry away though.

He'd be great on our 4th line. And yes I understand he's better than that, but I'd like him there to balance that line out.

Our media seems to think he wont want to go to ny, not just dan murphy either but he was the most credible person who said it. Dan travels with the team and works for sportsnet, knows the players pretty well.

People wondering about a VAN/NYR trade involving Kesler. Just a guess, but I'm pretty sure Kesler isn't waiving his NTC to play for AV again
