HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread: From Here to Free Agency

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
That was the time of Harold Ballard, heh? One day we'll have to make a topic about HB for the younger generation.
The GM then for the leafs was told they needed a tough guy, so Gord Stellick traded Courtnall to the habs for Kordic, and it was one of the most lopsided trades ever...........I am not 100% on who was the habs GM.....maybe Savard.
What a trade!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

Why would CJB move Werenski now? The deadline or next off-season seems a better timing considering his contract.

Unless Sasha is right and they are blowing it all up. Can we have Fantilli, pretty please?

I don't know what's going in Columbus but this team is going nowhere.
They don't have anything solid enough to compete in this association and if Werenski is out, then they must blow it out.

And yes Fantilli....but there's some interesting name on that team.

This is the time of the year that us fans, we tend to react to every trade or rumours.

Nemec was traded - maybe we wanted him?
Tuch was traded - maybe we wanted him too?
Kyrou was traded - maybe we wanted him as well?
Pettersson has to leave - we're thinking about getting him at reduced price
Connor Zary suddenly is available - we may think he would be a fit?

But in reality, we don't want or need any of them. Let's just enjoy the surprise and unexpected players we would get. Hughes is not gonna keep the team the same way, the guy is a boss, he'll get things done. Like Hockey Hall of Gamer Goalie Carey Price would say "take a chill pill"

Let me get this straight. Allegedly, we have/had Z on the table + our draft pick + another prospect/player for Knies.

Yet, a 4th overall pick in a weak draft, where, according to some of his biggest fans, you won’t be able to pick a better player than Z, would do the trick?

If a team that is not tanking prefers an unknown pick (who would be available come 4th) to Z, either their GM is a complete incompetent or our fanbase’s evaluation of Z (or Hage for that matter) is ridiculously too high.
Well said, nailed it on the head

I love resonable board members that remembers us to stop having fun.

Most people gets it but it’s not about being right: its to crank up the drama for you guys to try to calm us.

Just have fun.

The trade must happened around 1988 because Courtnall was in the 1989 SC finals. Yes, what a trade ! That's Savard I'm sure with the year that trade happened.

With all of the trades, signings happening, I just hope at the very least the Habs sign AJ Greer. The bottom two lines need more work than the top 2 lines.
Yes and no. The top lines needs a 2c. But I don't underestimate the bottom lines could be improved. I think it's easyer to improve the lower lines or it doesn't cost as much.

KH was working on trades on trade deadline. There is no way he’s not making a move to improve the team this offseason.
I incorrectly assumed that at least one of those trade deadline talks was going to bear fruit quickly. Takes the time it takes but also, some potential dancing partners may have already moved on, given how many trades have happened so far this off season.

Doesn’t mean other opportunities won’t emerge. Some can also take very long, depending on how complex a deal can be.

The true reality is any of these recently acquired players would make us instantly better.

I understand ad-nauseum that we are a young team, so it is reasonable to expect ALL our players are still on the "improvment" line. Theoretically ofc, this means we will be "better" next year with who we have (especially with the ECF playoff run). I get it, and for that reason i understand the restraint.

But that's where my agreement ends. I am focusing only on our current core, and SC window. While i understand "building and developing" is necessary, there comes a point whereby management must acknowledge current core, and provide added help. Hage, Z, et al.. (i love them, wish we could just wait) but that simply doesn't make sense. You cant stretch the core timeline to fit prospects. You cant stretch the core timeline to draft (outside top 5).

At some point, you need to deal. Bc sitting on your arse and waiting never achieved anything. Prospects are fun to follow, but their contribution (realistically) is years away from real contribution.

It's time. We are knocking on a SC window, and to compete, we need REAL (proven) assets to enhance our core.

Failure to see this is managerial-malpractice, but thankfully i "still" hold out hope Hugo are not playing the MB game.

Anything we own- nit currently on our already "youngest squad" in the league provides NO HELP. They need to be moved.
