HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread: From Here to Free Agency

Don't mind Carlo as a cheap pickup
don't want DeBrusk don't like the contract.
But KH is probably setting himself to go dumpster diving after waiting so long to make a move.

How do we feel about Brandon Carlo?

6'5, 228lbs, good for just under 20 minutes a game, shoots right and plays a ton on the PK/has a defense-first style.

I feel like he would complement our D pretty nicely.

Not the sexiest pick but definitely improves our D.
I'm pretty sure he was hurt most of last year and his play suffered.

However, the biggest draw back for him is that hes f***ing soft and doesnt go after anyone, at least as a member of the leafs.

Carlo would be a good depth upgrade. Something like

Hutson-Dobson
Matheson-Carlo
Guhle-Carrier

Would be a pretty good reg season rotation

He's not. He was a disaster at the end of his tenure in Boston and he was a disaster in Toronto.

...the issue with Carlo, imo, is that he's basically a 3rd Pairing guy now...he'd be an upgrade on Carrier and on the PK, but not much else; put him in the Top 4 with heavier minutes and he gets steamrolled...

He'd be fine with Matheson on the second pairing and 1st PK duties with Guhle.

Why Hughes don't try like 2022?

CHI wanted a top 15 pick for Dach, he traded Romanov for a 13 and trade that for Dach.

Now TOR want a top 10 pick for Knies, trade Guhle and 28 for 8-10.

Trade Hage and 8-10 for Knies.

That's it, that's all.
Maybe he has and they said no...? I'm sure he's been doing his job lol.

2 year at 4.1 as well.
I would take him over Struble, keep X as 7th D with Bach/Engstrom getting a chance as 8D and line up time due to injuries and what not.
I think its a realistic move for a slight upgrade on D.
Leaves some money to make a move up front.
But fans won't like it because its not sexy and he is a former leaf and bruin.

His hit totals is not so bad historically. Last year was an outlier which suggests me he played banged up.

What makes him so attractive to me is his 1 year of contract remaining at a mere 4M.

I do agree on the top 4 comment. I'd also add : people should not be fooled by the 6'5 228lbs package, he's not using it and he's shockingly soft due to a documented history of injuries and concussions.
