This may be repeating someone, but...
Engels with Tony on the sick podcast earlier in the week.
- While he didnt blatantly say it, it seems Engels is a little iffy on McTavish to the Habs. He mentions the Habs want more of a certain thing than going for a trade with the habs the player turns into what they think they will be. Referenced Dach and Newhook as examples.
- Said all the rfas will get a qo. They wont let Dach just walk, so my inference is that there is a market for him, likely because of size and pedigree of being a 3rd overall.
- Mentioned that the habs are likely calling all 31 other teams checking under the hopd, behind the tires.
- Asked about a comment that Basu made about keeping Montembeault and agreed that that is a plausible possiiblity for the habs. Said if Dobes/Fowler get hurt you're scrambling to get a backup. Said it isnt worth it to trade him for a mid-round pick.
- Mentioned Montreal's ideal 2nd line centre would be a defensively resposibile, capable offensively player. Ryan McLeod would be perfect, so maybe DM_ME_UR_BOOBIES has a point, but also, where is the motive to trade that player, especially in division.
- When asked which centre they (Habs) may target, brought up Zacha again.
- Mentioned the habs will have interest in a Mason Marchment, but stated given how thr UFA market isn't that good, Marchment might get paid and the habs arent likely to pay that price.
- Said the habs are looking for players similar to Knies and in his opinion he (Knies) isn't available, but the caveat for later in the summer is that there is a lot more to that than what is out there right now and he can't talk about it publically right now and hopes to do so later in the summer.
