  • Congrats to our latest Sportsbook winners - GOLD MEDAL kihei, SILVER MEDAL fish7 and BRONZE MEDAL Sammy Kat - new tournament begins today 6/15
It sounds more like:
  • 2nd round pick
  • Kirby Dach
  • Kaiden Guhle

Yeah, what they want and what they'll get is 2 different thing,

Apparently Buffalo are looking for a top 6 winger (To replace Tuch) and are ready to dangle Power.
Kind of write itself if the rumors are true......but Toronto won't get that pick or anything else.

Are you tempering our expectations Adam?

He's 6 feet 3 and a left handed center so there's that. Not the worst defensively and I guess a 50% faceoffs guy but....

He's not a proper 2nd line center, nor does he have the talent or creativity to play with Demidov, he would benefit from it but I can't say his vision or puck handling would give more chances to Demidov, maybe more puck retrieval but that's it.

He's a consolation prize for what this team needs really... and would cost a pretty penny to acquire. At least with Mactavish, you can sell me on the higher upside...if one were to reach his ceiling yada yada.

Dylan Cozens or Josh Norris would be better 2nd line centers, if I assess the cost correctly, I'd rather stand pat.

How do you feel about Lundell? If Florida get's Larkin somehow...
I'd take McLeod over Norris and it's really not close. If McLeod doesn't score, Buffalo rarely won.

McLeod
  • Elite speed
  • Elite transition defense
  • Very good defensively
  • Good offensively
  • Goal threat on the PK
  • Great contract
  • Can also play wing
  • Fits in with the age group
I also don't think McLeod would cost too much. Buffalo needs cap space.

Norris makes Dach look durable

I thought this back when they almost traded Knies at the deadline, and then again now that he's reportedly on the block.

What is wrong with this player? This is typically what it looks like when a team is trying to move a guy, not just listening to calls.

Is it his post injury play or medical related? Character? Requested a trade? Why would they be so keen to move on from a young homegrown player on a cost controlled deal?
Nothings wrong with Knies. He just the only valuable trade asset without a NMC lol. Toronto’s cupboards are bare. IF they can get a haul I get it

If we trade Ghule I get Lauzon as UFA.
For RD I go for Parayko or Whitecloud in a trade or sign Trouba.
Tough solid winger I go for Knies or Wilson.
Greer signed as UFA.
2C Thomas or Hischier. If not one of these two. McTavish.

Yep

Get a bag of much needed futures, use money to replace with depth or free agent equivalent.

They’re retooling. They need picks, prospects and roster players.

Could be numerous reasons. Perhaps they are trying to trade him to acquire other pieces they need.

Knies is a good player but hes not a player you build around like Matthews or Suzuki.

We can fit both Knies and McTavish.

Screw the newest rumored ask. Let's return to the original offer.

To Habs: Matthew Knies
To Toronto: Zharovsky + Pickford + 1st 2026

To Habs: Mason McTavish
To Anaheim: Oliver Kapanen + Adam Engstrom + 1st 2027

Slaf - Suzuki - Caufield
Knies - McTavish - Demidov
Newhook - Evans - Texier
Bolduc - Danault - Anderson
Xhekaj

Huston - Dobson
Matheson - Reinbacher
Guhle - Carrier
Xhekaj

New Leafs management is all about analytics and Knies isn't good at analytics (on the Leafs anyhow). Probably why we still have all those "he might still be available". They want way too much for him though, so he's not getting traded.

Anaheim are trying to trade away picks and prospects for more established players. I don't see that trade happening.
