Now that there’s a lot of team all over Knies, the leafs could get a haul. He’s the exact type of players GMs drool over, and 1 or 2 of them could do stupid things to acquire him. Especially with him being signed long term and at a team friendly cap hit.

Maybe our chance to get him was at the deadline when it was under the radar.

Since they seem to want to revamp their Defense, they’ll probably ask for Guhle++. Which we obviously shouldn’t do.

They can have him

If we attach players like Engstrom and Kapanen to that pick, we should be able to move up at a decent spot. LA could be a prime candidate for a move up if we decide to move Kapanen. Same thing with Florida if they prefer to accumulate assets instead of only picking one guy. Better draft your 2C instead of trading for a shitty one. Bjorck would be awesome and is close to being ready
Viggo Bjorck? Aren't you worried drafting a high pick (most have him going to 10) who is only 5'9 and 181 LBS? We need some bigger players who can't be boxed out so easily. We don't need a giant necessarily, but we so have too many players on the small side.

We absolutely do Guhle+++ for Knies like even if its two 1st and Pickford

Way easier and way less dangerous to give Guhle than it is to give Zharovsky imo

I just don't see why the Leafs would trade Knies now unless they are going for a full rebuild to build around McKenna, which would include finding trades for Matthews, Nylander, and Tavares as well, and if they make that decision they need to try damn hard to get their picks back

They chose the coach to make those guys happy.

Knies is still being traded because Toronto is incompetent and they see this as their only way to get good quick. They don't want to miss the playoffs the next two years.

(They will.)

Would entertain trading Guhle for Knies since this management prefer Matheson.
Guhle will end up the much better player if he can stay healthy - his health and our LHD depth would make him expendable but that's even more pressure to find physical D-men

I'm really hoping our mgmt/coaches blind love affair with MM comes to an end before his NTC kicks in shortly

Fully agree - yet, when there's so many reports, generally there's something behind them...

But it's not necessarily good news either. What if Knies is a problem in the room? It suspicious. If I'm Toronto I keep him and play him with McKenna and try to build from that...

I will go all in for Knies.

Zharovsky + Guhle + 1st.

The only players I would sacrifice Zharovsky is for Knies and Robertson with extension. If not, keep Zharovsky.

I thought this back when they almost traded Knies at the deadline, and then again now that he's reportedly on the block.

What is wrong with this player? This is typically what it looks like when a team is trying to move a guy, not just listening to calls.

Is it his post injury play or medical related? Character? Requested a trade? Why would they be so keen to move on from a young homegrown player on a cost controlled deal?

Probably they think he's a product of Matthews/Nylander and will never eclipse his current value. His metrics show most leafs have better stats without him on the ice.

If all Knies costs is Guhle++ we should absolutely do it.

Guhle is out for us right now. His spot in the top 4 has been taken by Matheson for at least the next 2-3 years.

It would depend on what ++ means obviously (if it's Guhle + Hage + Pickford, whatever, then hell no) but if Guhle is the main piece I'm driving him to the airport myself.
