I'm pretty sure Kadri won't be available at a descent price though. The whole league is seeing what he's doing. What price did you have in mind? The calgary 1st and a prospect? Which prospect?

I'm not sure Calgary will want to trade him though. Perhaps their GM will see this as a sell high opportunity to get out of his contract.

Yes. O’Reilly contract and Reinbacher ELC expiring at the same time. Can shift some there to bridge. Also, you have to wonder if Dach will be there long term.

If they snag marner, that’s a big shift to a top-heavy, “pay your stars” lineup. After Gally gone, bottom 6 could be:
Heineman - Beck - Kapanen
Xhekaj - Evans - Tuch

yeah its all off the premise that they are tearing it down and he wants to go somewhere while they rebuild.

I would easily go 1st++ (no demi, no rein, no hage ) everyone else is on the table including the other picks.
We would be able to eat the entire salary

I find it hard to believe that he’s unsigned because of a disagreement over 1 million or so.

After the way the team and fans treated him, I'd be shocked if he still wants to stay there.

They tried to trade him, he had to say no. They tried to replace him with Rantanen and fans crap on him all the time. If he does stay, he's a glutton for punishment and can't ever complain about his treatment in the future.

I’d say Draisaitl money is the max for him.

If he wants the most money he can squeeze, he’ll go to the highest bidder, or a low tax state, or stay in TO for the extra year. Habs have no chance if that’s the priority.

The Habs would have to sell him on the work environment. Hockey hotbed, good captain and locker room, star winger to keep focus off him. Not far from home. MSL. He could be the final piece.

With the cap materially increasing in the years to come the negotiation conversations will shift from dollar amounts to cap percentages when comparing to other players in contract discussions. Not fair to look at dollar value when cap goes up 20% anymore as it’s no longer apples to apples comps.
