HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread 92 Waiting on the DRAFT Edition

I’d say Draisaitl money is the max for him.

If he wants the most money he can squeeze, he’ll go to the highest bidder, or a low tax state, or stay in TO for the extra year. Habs have no chance if that’s the priority.

The Habs would have to sell him on the work environment. Hockey hotbed, good captain and locker room, star winger to keep focus off him. Not far from home. MSL. He could be the final piece.

If I’m a GM I’d want to see a lot more this playoffs before offering him that type of contract, but I think there are teams that will such as Utah and Chicago.

With the cap materially increasing in the years to come the negotiation conversations will shift from dollar amounts to cap percentages when comparing to other players in contract discussions. Not fair to look at dollar value when cap goes up 20% anymore as it’s no longer apples to apples comps.

Of course, which will play a part in the next few years with some of the Habs’ RFA’s, probably starting this offseason.

Yeah if we want to be regular season merchants. I'd take Sam Bennett over him every time. Takes warriors to win.
The comparison makes no sense. Apples and oranges.

1RW vs 2C

Marner produces much more than Bennett, even in the playoffs. If skill is lacking, Marner fills the need, without question.

Marner and Tkachuk would be a reasonable debate. MT provides more leadership and grit. Still, they have the same post season point production.

Bennett is not going to aged well and he’s gonna cost way more than his true value.

I'm not arguing that he will make sense long term but paying Marner UFA prices js immediately bad because you're paying a guy top dollars when he's proven time and time again that he can't elevate when it matters.

The point is a Stanley Cup not to see big numbers on hockeydb.

I'd rather have him than quite a few of our players tbh.

I'd rather continue building a deep, competitive team than cap f*** ourselves on one of the biggest choke artists of the modern game.

That's a landslide for Tkachuk.

  • THIS SUMMER
    • Pro guys that has to go: Savard, Matheson and Pezzetta
    • Pro salary that should be sold: Price.
    • Kids I hope are moved: Mesar, Mailloux, Roy, Kidney and out of left field in a package...Koivu.
    • If we can and if the price is good: Laine and Dach
    • On the bubble: Armia (is this solely his injury?), Evans (so dissapointing...).
    • Sign: Dvo if the price is right.
Aiming at 40% of my wishlist...

I've only watched a few games, but I'm not sure it's pertinent. Habs have a more balanced roster so Marner might do better here.
The current Habs are super soft, Marner would just add more to the softness.
And there are people in here want to trade all the players who aren't soft (Xhekaj, Slaf, Anderson, Guhle...Heineman is the only one I haven't seen suggested to trade).

I don't want more Cream Puff Habs.

I'm not in favor of getting rid of Xhekaj, Slaf, Anderson, Guhle.

True, but we’re talking about 2 elite wingers in the league. Both in the 3-6 range.
One might be available for free.

Why bring Bennett into the discussion? He’s a 2nd line player. 16:00 TOI/G in their Cup run.

Are we forgetting that we can build around talent? … or was Bergevin the GM for too long that we’ve become sensitized to skill?

“You can have a top 5 winger in the league”

“Nah, gimme Bennett.” C’mon

only thing I dont agree with here is Dach. I wouldn't trade him yet. I still think he can play top 6 as a W and his value is all time low. In fact, I would rather have him on Demidov W then Laine (who I want off this team asap).

lets see if Mitchy steps up this year. not saying he is not soft at all
but he does kill penalties count for something

What needs to happen is trading Matheson for a solid RD; this way Ghule would be able to play on his strong side.
Hopefully Reinbacher slides in on our 3rd pairing instead of Savard to start his career and within 2~3 years he becomes our 1st RD ; I think he has all the attributes to fill the role on the short term.
Carrier sticks around until /if ever Mailloux establishes himself.
I think HuGo will need to overpay a genuine 2nd C over the summer.
I really see Matheson as one our biggest problems going forward.
The foundation is rock solid.
Compared to all the issues this administration had to correct since their arrival, the rest of the puzzle pieces should fall right into place very quickly.
