So what do we do with Mailloux, Matheson, Dach, etc? Are Cernak, Sissons, and Horvat the best options?

We already have Newhook for 3rd center.

Caufield - Suzuki - Slaf
Laine - 2nd center - Demidov
Heineman - Newhook - Dach
Anderson - Evans - Gallagher
Beck/Kapanen

Guhle - Hutson
Matheson - Carrier
Xhekaj / Struble - Mailloux

Reinbacher replace Matheson in the lineup at the next trade deadline.

A 2nd line center is the big need Hughes will address at the draft day

I agree there are red flags Bennett’s contract could become an albatross simply due to his style of game + current age.

And confirmed by players and agents as there's additional ways to benefit in the US as well. They didn't bring it up at the General Managers meetings because it's not real. They are looking to create an even playing field moving forward....it's just the reality of the situation.

Anyone with a brain knows its a terrible plan to sign Bennett. Hes a 3C.

On defense, Josh Manson would be an excellent target to upgrade on Savard and give Hutson a reliable, physical, "stay at home" D partner at ES. Manson knows his role & plays it well, and has spent the past few seasons as the partner to a mobile PMD.

AVS will need to free up some cap space if they hope to re-sign Nelson & Drouin, asking price might not be too high if we don't send $ back... & With their recent moves, Avs could use some prospect depth &/or draft capital

Really hoping the Islanders keep losing and for us to trade for Horvat

BY far the best case scenario when you factor age, age, skill, defensive play, leadership, grit etc

If I see Zacha's name one more time, I'll lose it, I'd rather keep Newhook or Dach as 2C than pay up for a Zacha type

I think Montreal has problems if the plan is to have a Manson playing with Hutson.

Yes…. I / my firm do it for a living including advisory / consulting - other than heavy bonus contracts for US resident players, there’s just nowhere near the loopholes with revenue Canada as there is with US system to “hide and or defer” $$$

Those loopholes I might add are about to mushroom w new proposed tax cuts from the present American administration making it even more difficult for non zero / low state tax markets to attract players UNLESS bottom $ isn’t the deciding factor

asking price would be huge for horvart, I was think more of a pick for pick trade,

besisdes, he an suzuki are both from london
 
Why not just signing Matt Duchene as 2nd centerman? He is currently on a pace of point per game. Sign him 3 years at 5 millions / year. We will be set

He’s not coming back to Canada - he’s built a state of the art recording studio for his country music pleasure, at his house in Nashville where his wife and kids still live year round

Personnally, Bennett is trending as a 3rd centerman in 3 years. Im sure Florida won't resign him. You gonna have a 3rd centerman overpaid for a 6/7 years contract. No thanks.
Bennett is a physical player wich get around 50 pts a year as 2nd centerman. That kind of player don't age well. See Gallagher

I also don't think he is going back in the Shitshow in Nashville... Dallas is also far from Nashville... he said he wanted Montreal or Nashville back in the days
