The draft seems like it's a far far ways away that's where all the action will be we'll hear nothing from upstairs in the Canadian's office until draft time
He did, hasn’t really played there in a while. He was really bad at Faceoffs, like Dach bad.
Oh I agree. Just saying, he needs to keep it up to win it.No homerism, I think is now front runner and with Montreal in the playoff hunt, its a big argument on his luggage
This, I think Barzal would be already elsewhere if he was still seen as a center
Gotta think gonzo as UFA….wonder if HuGo would be interested?
I think we have the assets for that kind of move. I think the Islanders need tk rebuild. That team is cooked .Yea for sure but Zacha would cost less. A stud 2C wont come cheap.
That's hilarious he screwed the figs over

But that perspective is based on his first line play. He might be better suited as 2C.
Still a big maybe, I wouldnt assume that and I dont Hughes could risk a third strike after Newhook and Dach.
“Screwing over Make Beliefs”…
Should be all over it.
Apparently Canes rejected Make Beliefs initial offer of Minten, Cowan + two 1sts and countered with Marner v Rantanen swap. That's pretty wild.
I have to assume that if they approached Marner to lift his no-trade it means that the Leafs must have worked out a trade with Carolina beforehand. Rantanen for Marner straight up? Seems like bad business for the Leafs unless they had confidence that Marner would lift his NM or if they are already planning to walk away from him in FA. But what message does that send heading into the playoffs?
Kypreos reported that the package was Minten, Cowan, and 2 1sts. Now Johnson reports that Marner was in play? I'm skeptical of both these reports to be honest. The most Treliving himself said on the topic on the Kipper and Bourne show yesterday was that he wouldn't comment on speculation, which is all this seems to be given the discordant reporting on the topic.
That would actually me a worthy top 6 for playoffs. We should definitely be all over Marner, IMO.
Caufield-Suzuki-Demidov
Slafkovsky-Zacha/Horvat(trade)-Marner
Bruins fans hates Lindholm , saying he sucks. I would def scratch this from the list.So the teams I suspect would be open to a legit hockey trade is Pittsburg, Boston, Islanders, Nashville, and Seattle.
The target should obviously be someone to fill that 2C role. So these are the names that would potentially work (some mid term, some long term)
Lindholm
Crosby
O'Reilly
Horvat
And weirdly enough, I'd make a play for Beniers even if it's very unlikely to happen

Woulva say no to Marner prior to 4nations but he won me over.I think we have the assets for that kind of move. I think the Islanders need tk rebuild. That team is cooked .
My moves would be Horvat for a trade with pitching a blank check for Marner. Then I'd trade Laine at retained salary .
Now that would be a great top6
Plus he'd still get to go to Boston and score big goalsSigning in Montreal could be the ultimate middle finger
Would you accept less than that for Suzuki? You'd accept a couple mid 1sts and a guy like Mailloux for Suzuki? There's basically no forward including Joe Thornton's mid-Art Ross season campaign that returned a Demidov or Hutson level prospect in the last 20 years. Robert Thomas is at best a top 20 forward in the league.
