Trade Deadline came & went with no changes.

Nothing much will happen now til closer to draft, which is June 27-28. A little over 3 months away. We will likely have two top 20 picks.

What do we do? Who will we target for 2C?

Discuss where things go from here for Montreal.

Not much in free agency either. So the move or moves will likely be via trade

Wasn’t encouraging to hear Hughes said he didn’t had the munition to get a top 6 center for the futur today. Guess what, we won’t have more ammunition this summer lol

Hughes takes the L today. Statut quo is bad. Refusing to trade Armia for a second because you said so to suzuki, it’s sad. Either sell or buy a little at least to help them.

Hughes will have to get better pretty quickly at hockey trades. Trading a player for pick or negociating a contract, he’s good. But hockey trades? He takes the L pretty often since he’s here.

I’m very happy Hughes is the GM and you’re not.

This post is pure garbage, just as all your others today. You very clearly state that you basically just wanted a trade for the sake of it just because you want to be entertained for a few hours.

You’re fine with both buying or selling? How does that make sense? In your eyes, the team is both good enough that it’s worth it for them to trade picks to add, but also bad enough that they need to add an extra 2nd rounder to their 7 top64 and 21 total picks in the next two drafts? All that while the team is 1 point out of a playoffs spot of the backs of the young players’ play? Great way to aleniate your young core and instill a losing culture, just like the sens, the sabres and the former coyotes.

You sound like a child who can’t have his dessert first.

How does a statut quo helps a rebuilding team moving forward?

Would have prefer to sell, cause we still need top end talent.

Or make a trade for a top 6 center. Somebody that will be here for more seasons. But Hughes said he didnt have the ammunition to get that done today. Not encouraging.

Everybody overpays on deadline day because of its “last call” to load up for a cup run. He’s not going to over pay now to fill the same position he can fill in the Summer for much cheaper.

The rest of this season is all about assessing / evaluating the young players - who can maintain consistent effort & intensity as the intensity of the games ramps up in March / April leading into playoffs, and which players can potentially be sacrificed to address “needs”.

If Redenbacher continues his play in Laval, he may even get a playoff callup as they did with Subban, should they qualify for postseason .

Fowler will be signed in the next few weeks.

Buckle up, going to be fun to watch play out

Trying to get a playoffs push with Beck as your second line center playing Pezzetta level minutes is bad looking. That’s screams rebuilding team that needs other top picks.

Nobody is gonna make us a gift this summer neither. Not for a young top 6 center.

One must think Hughes is well aware of the elusiveness of 2 proper top6 Cs for Montreal the past 30(?) years, and he will spend the trade capital to get someone who fits the bill. I wouldn't even be surprised if he finds a way to add a C that could be a low-end 1C to play behind Suzuki.

what top picks ? It’s a poor draft cuvée that’s why teams didn’t even slightly hesitate trading picks from 2025

This is a myth. There is no perfect time for acquisitions.

Sure you overpay at TDL.

But guess what...you also overpay in the summer as free agency is inherently more expensive

Then don’t sign free agents and make trades you say? Well lots of teams think that way and the more teams think that way, that creates more demand which in turn drives the cost up for trades as well.

You gotta be like Tampa...,you want a player you like, well you gotta pay the price simple as that

Rebuild is over…now it’s all about growing & adding towards becoming a regular playoff team….starting now

Beck will be eased into 12-14 TOI role over next 10-15GP. It will happen organically
Rebuid is over but our two top prospect dont even play in the nhl…lmfao ok
