HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread #91: 2025 Trade Deadline edition

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
i'm not sure what will become available during the summer, but I get the feeling that it will be more of the same. I personnally dont see Duchene as a viable option.

For one, we know what our first round draft picks will be and we can better judge whether we should trade one or both.

Usually there is more activity. At TDL its the contenders looking for rentals as a focus

Their owner doesn’t seem like the type to move on from anything.
Apparently the reason he's available now is because of the owner.

He wants to see the value he has and then the team might move on.

Hughes can stand pat, but the off season he needs to make some trades and sign some mfs

In your example you are just letting your money sit without investing it and happily taking the 1% interest rate.

You should be trying to find a better job instead of trying to sell your stand up freezer that you actually use on Facebook marketplace for $50.
I'm investing part of it. I'm just prudent and keep some available.

I'm not pretending we should trade everyone but if a good offer is made no reason to not accept it imo. You never have too many assets.

I wouldn't be surprised if Montreal does (next to) nothing ( substantial ) on the NHL side of things when it comes to "big names" or High value asset management.

Getting a first is likely out of the equation unless we add on a free agent.

Mailloux, 1st, 2nd, seems like a fair package for a player like McCann.

How old was Toffoli when he was dealt? Did he still have term?
WAT!????

Only person moving tomorrow is Savard imo, and only because they might want to give Mailloux and Reinbacher some looks over the last 20 games. Even that is far from certain.

Everybody else stays without an insane overpay by a desperate GM, which is very unlikely.

Shaping up to be a very boring deadline for us.

If Armia is traded it has to be for a significant return, no draft picks.
Is he really worth anything significant? He’s on a contract year and has had several disappearing acts since signing his last deal— what is considered significant for him? A late 2nd rounder from a playoff vying team?

We are out west and from I can see haven't called anyone up or have any healthy scratches to put in the lineup if we moved anyone, I'm thinking we are doing nothing

Toffoli was traded with 2 more years left on his deal. He was nearly 30.

Didn’t know Brisson fell off this hard, he was an excellent prospect not too long ago. Just shows how I don’t think Hage should be an untouchable for us. If you get a youngish 2C for him there should be no issues trading him.
Every prospect is different. Hage needs to be evaluated on his own merits.

A cultute of competition over individualistic survival will breed more and more of that. Competition is toxic to sociality. We survived and evolved to become super-cooperators while our closest relatives, the neanderthals, were less apt at prosocial behaviors and self-control and lived in much smaller groups, thus going the way of the dodo. We've been diverging from this path for about 8k to 15k years and might ourselves end-up like our long lost cousins.
Last place I expected to read this is on a hockey forum.

If man came from a chimpanzee, why did chimpanzees not go the way of the dodo?

And if man was once a Neanderthal, why do we still have them in the NHL?

I’ll see myself out. :sarcasm:

Armia as a rental, a big body who kills penalties, wears down opposing Dmen with strong board play is probably more in demand than people think. He was very effective in the Habs Cup run.
If Martin Erat can land you a young prospect named Filip Forsberg I think Armia might land you a surprising return. Of course take everything I say with a grain of salt because I am rarely right 🤣
