Makes me mad
I'll help you because I'm a kind person. With this mistake, you don't have Demidov. Maybe no rebuild. Mediocre team until the end of time.

Would you guys give Beck and 1st for Cozens?
I would without any hesitation. Cozens is at his lower low the player you dream to get with Beck, without the size and the shot. It's a no brainer and I don't think there is any chances they would accept. They may have several way better options out there.

I think most are waiting to see what happens with rantanen. As for hughes he is often quiet. There was nothing leaked at all for evans. Most including evans himslef thought he waa being traded
There were reports that they circled back to the negotiating table.

Man.........did the Canes misread that whole fiasco with Rantenen....
Canes had one of the best team with great cap structure they were unwilling to buy or spend any money or asset when they were peaking now they than they switch gear but it was too late and on top of it they started spending of the wrong player…

Most teams don't have the cap to slot Rantanen in, they should be focusing on how to improve their own team, not await a "show".

If Canes swallow 50%, Rantanen’s cap hit for acquiring team is $2.75M - almost every team has that space to acquire

Rantanen to montreal for a second when dundon panics and forces a trade last minute like vanek on steroids
Yeah…starting to feel eerily similar to Vanek saga circa 2014 deadline….

- Traded to Buf in late Dec, wouldn’t agree to an extension
- Minutes before deadline day close, Snow accepted MBs 2nd round offer

I dont think it's comparable though because vanek at that time was more like a declining asset, while ratanen is in his prime and still would be valued. Like if I was the leafs I'd consider giving up marner for him

From 2008-2009 to 2011-2012 Vanek had seasons of 40, 28, 32, 26. In lockout shortened 2012-2013 he had 20G in 38GP (43G pace), and had 20G in 58GP before Habs acquired him and scored 6G to finish 2013-2014 w 26G and had just turned 30.

He became a “declining asset” once he signed his UFA deal w Minny - where everyone knew he wanted to sign because his wife was from there

I backed that pick until he got offer sheeted by the Canes. I actually thought at one point he could be our #1 and Nick our #2. Definitely a blunder on my part.

How f***ing good would Tkachuk or Quinn Hughes look on this team.
Not as good as you think , as I believe bt could have saved mb job and we would suck bad still

I didn't think there was a high skill forward worth pursuing this deadline (fit-wise), but Raantanen changes that.

Should we pursue him? Although he might go back to Colorado this summer... but what if we can convince him to sign longterm?

Lebrun just released an article on the Athletic stating the same stuff we've been hearing.

If you want Savard or Armia, you have to overpay.

Hughes has continued to make calls around the league to find a center for the longterm. Deal like that is easier to do in the summer though.

Take that chance as they did w Petry once upon a time.

- Laine for Rantanen
Or
- both 2025 1st rounders for a signed Rantanen
