why sign a guy that cant even follow the play anymore
7th D next year.
why sign a guy that cant even follow the play anymore
then sign him for league minimum for 1 year7th D next year.
On pace for 59 this season. My bad read it as career high not average. His last 3 years average is 68 pts. Scoring was lower when he entered the league. He was also behind EP40 for a while.
Who else is available that's better than Rants? Not sure why some hab fans want Rantanen, he's going UFA for sure and will be over priced for what you'll get from him, unless you can get Mackinnon here as well. Besides wingers are the least of our worries. 2C and top 4 RD should be our targets, these are our needs.
Novak been good fit here
I think Habs may retain on Laine at draft. To get decent return. I agree with you, don't want him near Demidov
Which is why the whole Slaf playing like Brady T fairy tale means he’s going to have to drop them since it’s now customary to jump on or start swinging at any player that delivers a solid hit.Dylan still looked weak. I mean Dach would have totalled KK. Dylan looked weak. Physicality is BS in hockey if you can’t walk the walk.
Flippin' Brisebois just put all Seattle's interesting players far beyond our price point with one stupid trade.Wonder what it would cost to get Chandler Stephenson from Seatle. He would be perfect to fill the void as a second line center until we Hage comes along.
12M/8 ain't it. Way too muchWho else is available that's better than Rants?
He is still a beast and exactly what we need - more talent and size. We are in great shape cap wise and can afford him. we can still search for our 2C and defence when better opportunities arise.
Depends on the team and what their needs are. A team deep in centres but thin at LH would be the perfect match.Indeed, nothing is absolute. However it's likely that if a team is going to trade a young, cost controlled 2C that they would want a young C prospect as part of the package in return. Especially if they are trading with the Habs, who have several.
Yup I said as much when we played Ottawa and Ridley Greig went after him. If he's going to play that way he needs to keep his head on a swivel because they will be coming at him.Which is why the whole Slaf playing like Brady T fairy tale means he’s going to have to drop them since it’s now customary to jump in or start swinging at any player that delivers a solid hit.
Not condoning fighting but Slaf can’t even defend himself against an onslaught and since he can’t even do that, he becomes an injury liability.
With the rising cap? I don't think so.12M/8 ain't it. Way too much
In today’s NHL, players jump you for a solid and legal hit. It’s sad really. If you mean physicality is BS if you can't fight then I'd hard disagree. I'd take someone that actually plays the body and lays hits over someone that doesn't but is good at fighting anyday.
You wear down teams in the playoffs by playing the body over a 7 games series, not by sending a goon out to fight every single guy on the oppositions team.
Not a bad target. Correct me if I'm wrong but he's kind of similar to DanaultWonder what it would cost to get Chandler Stephenson from Seatle. He would be perfect to fill the void as a second line center until we Hage comes along.

Carolina has offered him between 13 and 14 million12M/8 ain't it. Way too much
Multiple 100 point seasons. 101 points in 81 career playoff games. That’s not just standing around and waiting for MacKinnon to do everything. He’s one of the best players in the league. Look at how Panarin changed the Rangers. Gorton knows what an elite player can do. Three core players make under $8m each, you can afford a 12m+ player. Not sure why some hab fans want Rantanen, he's going UFA for sure and will be over priced for what you'll get from him, unless you can get Mackinnon here as well. How sweet would it be for him to accept less to play for the Habs …. I might not like mb , but I will never forget the 15 dollars extra they gave kk…..Carolina has offered him between 13 and 14 million

Think he needs a skillful playmaker to produce? Well here you go, play with Demidov.
A lot of people like to point out that he played with MacKinnon so his numbers are inflated. Do people forget that MacKinnon was a disappointing 50ish point player until Rantanen came around?
I’m suspecting a lot of it is deferred since Canes aren’t big on large signing bonus payoutsCarolina has offered him between 13 and 14 million
Isn’t he signed for another 6 or 7 years? Until he’s 37?Wonder what it would cost to get Chandler Stephenson from Seatle. He would be perfect to fill the void as a second line center until we Hage comes along.
I would stay away from Cozens. He may turn out to be a great buy low candidate but his contract is expensive and if it doesn't hit you're really screwed. He had amazing potential but has crashed and burned. I'd just stay away. Can we stop obsessing on underachieving players, who cares if they are cheaper. Do you want a winning team or a hope and pray underachieving team?
Overpay for a guy like Horvat and be ready to play next year with a real second line. Suzuki is not getting younger, everyone is ready as you can see to make waves in the playoffs soon.
