In the real world, there's far more nuance to decision making than your either/or scenario implies. Two people can reach the same decision yet have entirely different rational... Context is everything.

I appreciate the frustration. The potential outcome of missing the playoffs while getting the worst pick of non-playoff teams and not getting any assets from Savard, Dvorak, Evans & Armia frankly sucks... and it would be virtually impossible to quantify what, if any, actual value the team gained from not selling all 4 to the highest bidder. It's such a no-brainer that either KH is a complete idiot or...

And again, IF the plan is to bring back Jake 'cause they think he's a valuable asset for our future? Great with me. It's then part of a plan. If they see though that they are unable to reach an agreement and they'll keep him just because they are not satisfied with only having a 2nd rounder...I don't see how that's a plan. You are not dictating a route for your team. You are accepting that a route is being dictated to you. So RIGHT NOW i'm not against anything....nothing has been played out yet.

Also to your other point...I really don't understand. I've been for what Hughes has done since he's here. Cause he DID have a plan. He missed in some occasions...but with a real plan. Going for 1st rounders and high draft picks, and going for younger kids hoping they'd develop here that could be part of our future. THAT is a plan I'm totally for. So...what was the nuance in his first years? There was none. We were sellers. We picked high. We added picks and youngsters.

So the only nuance THIS year is that we are closer to the playoffs than ever. My sole point is this...IF you have a plan...that reality right now should not dictate what your plan should be. As close to the playoffs that we are, we do not think we are a team that could win rounds. We did not discover it. Talk to me about prior to the 4 nations tournament? But suddenly, we have to find nuance based solely on the last 4 games? If so, how that is part of plan? You don't plan anyting based on recency.

Always been a big fan of Laughton. But at 30 years old....It,s hard to expect another gear from him.

Why is playing high intensity NHL games in March / April being a very vital next step in the development process for 53% of this roster such a difficult concept to understand?

That next development step has enormously more value than a late 2nd rounder in a weak draft cuvée, who’s probability of ever playing in the NHL being less than 10%

I wouldn't trust these kind of throw-in evaluation anyway. You need to give them NHL games to have a real picture.

He is most likely the most competent to evaluate Laval roster.

They have their 1st this year and next. They have interesting prospects like Chesley, Protas (probably not available), Mateikos.

Could be an interesting destination. Would ask for (in order) :

Boston Montréal trades pretty rare though. Same with Dylan Cozens coming to Montreal.

Thank god we don't have people who keeps thinking about low percentage of 2nd rounders to play in the NHL based on how Lane Hutson is playing for us. And how EVERY YEAR there are important players coming out of that round.

As far as playing tough hockey being good for development...ABSOLUTELY! Totally agree. So...before Dach's injury.....were we interested in trading Evans so that Beck could have used those tough minutes for development? Could it be good to get Josh Roy up? How about Florian Xkekaj?

And AGAIN...what was your point about the development process just prior to the 4-Nations tournament? So EVERYTHING is changed based on our last 4 games?

As Anthony Marcotte keeps saying after Beck’s call up, there are no NHL ready prospects left in Laval

My view has always been if this team is 8-pts or less out from playoffs, keep the pending UFAs unless someone offers up an unbelievable return, and push hard for the playoffs.

Play every game as if it’s Game 7 of Cup finals so young players experience meaningfulness of each and every shift & understand the costliness of mistakes

Oh I’d definitely pay a 1st for him. I think he’s a lot better than Carrier and would have a similar impact as Hutson’s partner.

No. Not for Carlo. He will essentially replace Savard. I don't pay a late 1st or a prospect like Mailloux (even though I am not his biggest fan).

Don't know but it makes sense that Carlo would be available.
