2012 was one of the weakest draft ever and Parayko was drafted in the 3rd round along with Stephenson, Esa Lindell, Adam Pelech and Grzelcyk. Also keeping a vet who will decline and block kids for no reason is pretty useless too atm since we are a good 3 years away from something. Our group of vets is vastly overrated by fans. As soon as the kids slow down the team starts losing.
I understand stand your point of getting some is always better than nothing and regardless of what happen in 2012 the odd of converting on a 3rd round picks isn’t great, not getting any return on anyone of these guy isn’t setting us back they are UFA so they aren’t blocking anyone. It isn’t KH who is on the clock to move those guys it is the playoff teams that have the all the pressure to improve.
Also for most of the buyer pick will be late in the round which also make it less valuable.
We have ton of bodies and picks, we need to be looking at quality, Squeezing top value out of one trade is better than getting just getting 4 trades done for middling return… If we had a guy with significant value like Nelson, you absolutely can’t lose them for nothing but in our situation we have zero pressure let the desperate team get desperate.
What are the odds of hitting on a NHL player in the late 1st, 2nd&3rd? Now what is the value of getting a player that you can plug and play to help you team going into the playoffs. Guy like Evan, Armia and Savard are worth a lot more than a their 3rd to them…
1) the odd of that pick making the NHL
2) odd of that pick being better than player being acquired
3) that pick isn’t helping you in the next 3 years…
