HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread #91: 2025 Trade Deadline edition

I think Walton is like found money for them at this point, seeing as how his trajectory has risen.

Chevy is an excellent GM, and I do think that Walton would be a piece he’d be willing to part with if he thought the guys he was getting back would help him for a cup run.

Walton isn’t without his warts, was drafted low and his defensive game is just fair at this point. If you’re considering moving him as the Jets GM, you’ve got little to zero risk for blowback. If he becomes a solid NHL player he’s one of the .00001 percent drafted in the 6th round who would… if he doesn’t, then he hasn’t lost anything and gained something that helps him in the present.

A 6’6 left hand shot center power forward who improved dramatically is a nice lottery ticket to have though. He’d be my realistic target if I were Hughes.

Well said.

I would do Mailloux for Lambert today.

I would most definately hope we do trade Armia-Dvorak-Savard though. And not necessarily for picks. Get players. But all 3 are not on their way up especially Dvorak and Savard. If you want to keep Armia fine...but please sign him to. Yet, only 2 years.

Some say Jets could be interested....if we go prospect route...pick He. Kevin. Kevin He. Or Chibrikov.

All depends on the cost, which I don't think will be very high for any of these players given their contracts and our lack of retention spots. I read that the habs may choose to save the last retention spot in case they need it to make a move at the draft. Perhaps the acquiring team could arrange for a 3rd party broker, but that will lower the return coming our way.

At this point the team has earned a shot at staying together and making a drive for the playoffs so I'd keep all as 'own rentals' unless there is a bigger deal in the works or we get an offer that we can't turn down. Mid-round picks aren't that, and in terms of players I can't see a team giving anything more than a B- prospect.

For those who think getting a center at cheap price, a center is always very valuable unless his name is Dvorak. Dvo cost a 1rst and a 2nd at the time and is paid 4,5m. Danault is paid 5,5. Kotka was paid 6,5 when he was acquired. Teams sell their centers at high price the same Toyota Tacomas are sold high price on used trucks market.

What price and what player/prospect are we willing to sacrifice for a valuable center?

I think it's time to trade for Zegras, make it happen KH!! I think he would be a solid fit here on the 2nd line. He needs a change of scenery and some of our guys are close to him!
I agree I think he could flourish in Montreal the question is what do you need to give up to get him?

I assume all trades start with Logan Mailloux.
Would a 2nd rounder, Alex Newhook and Mailloux be enough to get Zegras?

Montreal also needs a winger to round out that 2nd line ??? Zegras Laine

This definitely has the makings of a slow year. There simply aren't a lot of teams that are completely out of the picture at this point, therefore not a lot of sellers. I'd imagine that would make prices pretty high across the board and not a lot of teams willing to pay them at this point.

The last couple of years have definitely been buyer's markets.
In the 50-60 trades, most are for AHL level deals.

If we're trading for a young, cost controlled 2nd line C it is hard to imagine the package going the other way would not include Hage or Beck.

It's fun you mention Danautl, that we got for Fleischmann and Weise.

It's a good point! What if the Habs did something new and creative like acquire a winger and then play him as center, to get around this :turkeygirl:

They haven’t been worth tuning into ever since social media took over.
This here is my social media and no other. I get annoyed at having to open the incessant links as it is.
