HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread #91: 2025 Trade Deadline edition

This says it all.

Hage is tremendously underrated. There are very few untouchables on this team. Among the non-NHL assets, I would only include in this category: Fowler, Demidov and Hage. And, in this writer's opinion, I think the trajectory gap between Demidov and Hage is not as pronounced as some so readily assume. Demidov, Hage, Hutson and Fowler are the cornerstones of this team's future. As I said above, you trade these type of players at your franchise's extreme peril.

I have been a fan of this team since the early 1950s. The past 30 years have been hard to stomach. But for the first time since 1984, when we had the likes of Richer, Lemieux, Roy, Corson, Chelios, etc. on the team, I see a much brighter, more promising future for this franchise. You don't trade the future building pieces that you have acquired through insight (or luck) simply to scratch an itch born of impatience.
I am not sure I agree.

You have to see a few games of Hage, not just the highlights. He is very inconsistent and quite enigmatic. He will give you a 'play of the week' on one shift, then will dissappear for a long period. And that translate into his productivity right now.

Not that I would trade him. I think the guy is going to give it all to play for Montreal, but I think 2C is a stretch...

Newhook did really well at the end of the season last year, when centering Anderson and Gallagher. And he really helped Gallagher finish strong. I think I can see a solid 3rd line with Anderson - Newhook - Dach next year, which would bring size and speed. And keep the 4th with Armia - Evans - Heineman, which is also a strong NHL 4th line.

Eventually they will need to replace Anderson and Armia, but there are lots of players in the Rocket that can fill that role.

Which again brings us back to the famous 2nd line. Demidov will completely change that, but I still think the 2C is still missing, and I dont think its anywhere in the pipeline (short or long term) right now.

this trade deadline might be the one that I am the least interested in in like 20 years. I don’t expect anything/if we do something it will be mostly inconsequential. I won’t even have interest in following along. Snooze fest

Why would Buf do that when their GM has said they want a proven star and not future assets?
They don't have the assets to get a star. All of their recent first rounders aren't projecting to be as good as they thought and their core guys are massively underperforming.

They rushed a bunch of them into the NHL and stunted their development. Power is good but doesn't look like a first overall pick. They have a bunch more in the AHL that aren't projecting to be impact players despite good stats.

They've got a stink on them that can't be washed. They've changed either the GM, the coach, or shipped out a key core player literally every year of their playoff drought.

I would most definately hope we do trade Armia-Dvorak-Savard though. And not necessarily for picks. Get players. But all 3 are not on their way up especially Dvorak and Savard. If you want to keep Armia fine...but please sign him to. Yet, only 2 years.

Some say Jets could be interested....if we go prospect route...pick He. Kevin. Kevin He. Or Chibrikov.

This definitely has the makings of a slow year. There simply aren't a lot of teams that are completely out of the picture at this point, therefore not a lot of sellers. I'd imagine that would make prices pretty high across the board and not a lot of teams willing to pay them at this point.

The last couple of years have definitely been buyer's markets.

Doesn't really matter from the Habs' perspective.

They already have a full cupboard of draft picks, and they're not getting 1sts for Armia, Savard, Dvorak.

I like Walton, but like Brad Lambert more. Either would be a great return. Probably not doable unless the Jets are asleep at the switch.
I think Walton is like found money for them at this point, seeing as how his trajectory has risen.

Chevy is an excellent GM, and I do think that Walton would be a piece he’d be willing to part with if he thought the guys he was getting back would help him for a cup run.

Walton isn’t without his warts, was drafted low and his defensive game is just fair at this point. If you’re considering moving him as the Jets GM, you’ve got little to zero risk for blowback. If he becomes a solid NHL player he’s one of the .00001 percent drafted in the 6th round who would… if he doesn’t, then he hasn’t lost anything and gained something that helps him in the present.

A 6’6 left hand shot center power forward who improved dramatically is a nice lottery ticket to have though. He’d be my realistic target if I were Hughes.

As it stands, one of Armia, Dvorak or Savard @ 50% likely doesn’t fetch more than a 3rd round pick at TDL; might as well keep them and acquire the same asset with loaned cap space by leveraging the Habs’ last retention spot in a 3-way deal.

If however a team is somehow willing to pay a (presumably late) 2nd round pick for one of them @ 50%, that’d be another story of course.

Besides that, I could definitely see the Habs bolstering the Rocket’s depth with a minor move this week; mid/late pick for an AHLer.
