I'm not advocating to trade for him but he missed 6 games this year and 4 games in total in the previous 4 years combined. How is that "perpetually injured"? He's having a down year but he put up 89 and 102 points the last 2 years. He's not a 60 pts player.
Rumour is he’s been injured since before he signed his contract extension. The PPG and other performance stats before and after a certain date indicate a severe drop off.

Either he’s suffering from a chronic (and hopefully not permanent) injury or he’s just given up. Which is worse in your opinion?

Am I the only one here who thinks Mailloux skating stinks? He got a good shot, good physicallity but his skating stinks. It might hold him off the big league.

If we can use Dach, Mailloux and a pick to get a good second line player or a solid RHD, we should pull the trigger IMO.
You obviously haven't been reading HF Boards much, unless you are just trying to trigger some of his haters with a sarcastic comment?

Honestly, I haven't followed Seth Jones carefully. What do posters think of Seth Jones. Can he be a sericeable two way top 4 RD, at a cap hit of 7M?

To MTL: Seth Jones, 2.5M retained

To CHI: Calgary 1st + Gallagher + ?
or To CHI: Matheson + ?

Yes.

But on a serious boat, it will be quite telling to see how he performs for the rest of the season and into the playoffs should they make it

No you’re not

And I do agree we should try to offer that package

Honestly, HF Boards is the only site I have seen a knock against Mailloux's skating. Most sources actually consider it one ofmhis strengths. If not, they don't think it will hamper his chances to make the NHL.

What is consistently brought up against Mailloux (by himself included) is the work that needs to go into his defensive play and decisions without the puck.

Dach, sure. Mailloux, sure. A pick? Which pick? makes a big difference co0msiderimg we are tossing in Dach and Mailloux.

Dach + Mailloux + PIT 2025 2nd rounder
Dach + Mailloux + Habs' 2025 2nd rounder
Dach + Mailloux + CAL/FLA 2025 1st rounder
Dach + Mailloux + MON 2025 1st rpunder

Huge difference!

I'd do any off these packages, depending on the return. Good 2nd line player or top-4 RHD is much too vague for me and impacts too much on the quality of the pick to go with Dach and Mailloux.

I'd pass on this specific deal. I see it as an overpayment given how much Andersson's play has dropped off over the past couple years.
I don't think he dropped at all. He just doesn't get as much PP time since the arrival of Weegar (Tkachuk trade) and the team has been shit since Gaudreau, Tkachuk and Hanifin are gone. So the offense production is obviously dropping.

What you get with Andersson is a 35-40 pts 2-way RHD who plays a tough 20 minutes 5 vs 5. Top PKer of his team. Pretty mobile and can lay big time hits from time to time.

For me he is a no.2-3 D open most teams. And I think he is more of what we need than Dobson for example, although I would be thrilled with getting Dobson. The price might be prohibitive imo though.

Sadly, it’s seems he will stay in CGY but he would have been my #1 target

His skating is dropping much faster than I thought it would. He's still fairly quick but not like he was. He's playing way too much right now and I think after another year, maybe two, he'll be destined for 3rd pairing duties. If we're wanting him to play a supporting role for Lane, I could see him doing that for a couple years and then moving him down to become a PK'er.

He's a good player, don't get me wrong but I don't see him as a long term solution for our top 2 pairings.

Jones is awful and no one would trade asset to get him.

Is it just me, or does Buffalo have a better roster than the Habs, but things just don't work for them ?

Not that the Habs are this great team themselves, but it certainly might be that Buffalo is better (and should be), but it seems the mindset of complete ass is fine.

Nah. He still has at least a good 4-5 years of quality play. He is just 28 yo. Entered his prime 3-4 years ago and his never seriously injured. Really durable D.

Extended for how much and how long? Not sure he would even want to sign a year ahead of his contract ending with the cap situation.
he would probably cost 7,5 M$ for 7 years contract extension that would bring him to 36 years old.

But I don't trade for him if he doesn't want to extend as part of the trade.

I genuinely believe it is the losing culture

And I’m genuinely worried about the Habs falling into this pit of despair if they don’t make efforts to force a culture change and keep it moving in the right direction.

Our year on year pt% improvement will likely hit a screeching halt this year. The regression can be bad news if Hughes doesn’t make serious efforts to reinforce the team and convince the roster that they have an upcoming season for which it is worth training and playing hard.

It’s hard to move forward when three of five top6 forwards move backward and a fourth top6 is a broken down capdump.

Next year’s team has to be different
