HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread #90: 2024-2025 season part III

so seems like the islanders want an established star forward for Dobson. Now I’m not sure he qualifies but if Boston does want to rebuild or retool and trade Brad Marchand, maybe we can swing a theee way deal

To Boston
Calgary 1st and Joshua Roy

To Islanders
Montreal 1st and Brad Marchand

To Habs
Noah Dobson
I think Boston gets hosed... So I like it :D

Maybe it's just me but I already see Owen Beck as a Sam Bennett type of player. He just needs to get physically stronger and mature a bit. He can definitely play that in your face type of gritty game and should have no problem matching Sam's production. I'm not sure why we'd go after and pay heavily for a possible redundancy. We certainly aren't winning anything in the two seasons it will take Beck to fully arrive. While Owen Beck probably won't be the POS Sam Bennett has become. I don't think that matters much as long as we have some other POS in our forward group.
Beck had a few suspensions in the OHL. He can get nasty.

I got the same feeling as well initially, but Calgary 1st is going to be like a 2nd in this draft and there are good chances ours too... So 2 2nd + Roy is fair.

You underrate this draft by quite a bit.

There will be very interesting players available in the top-20 this season.

The chances of these interesting players making the league is going to be lower than usual. That's opinions of scouts talking to McKenzie and also mine watching lots of shift by shifts. The skills aren't on par with last draft or the previous one.

The rebuild is over after this year. And with the cap going up, there is no reason we can't be competitive from the get go next year.
We’re one of the worst teams in the league this year. I don’t think we can say with such certainty that the rebuild is over - I can absolutely think of reasons why we won’t be competitive next year.

IMO, we're not getting Dobson. De'Angelo seems to have replaced him on the PP, so now Lou wants an established scoring forward to get them into the playoffs.
We only have futures as habs are not moving any young forwards like Suzuki, Caufield, etc.
Unless lou wants Laine and another piece, which is my fever dream

3 way trade with a 3rd team that’s rebuilding and wants our 1st rounders

The reason we are a bad team is because of our poor second line. If we could get a Monahan caliber center for the second line we would be much better. People forget the importance of the center of the ice. It's the main reason this franchise has struggled for 30 years and it needs to be the top priority of Hughes and Gorton.

Turnover in the lineup will make it difficult for the Habs next season, even with the arrival of Demidov and, hopefully, Reinbacher who will both still be rookies.

A C-line of Suzuki - Dach - Newhook - Beck has one of the worst middle-6s in the league and a rookie as a 4th line C.

Carrier as our #1 RHD is also rather weak.

Those foundations don't scream playoffs.

Calgary's first is not going to be like a second lol.....how do you even come up with this silliness.
