HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread #90: 2024-2025 season part III

That is horrendous C depth and we will be bottom 5 with that lineup.
Having a top line center to knock Suzuki down to 2nd line center, replacing Dvo with Beck and adding a new 4th line center is horrendous? Okay… Guess just adding a 2nd line center is a better option. lol.

Blockbuster shit trade

MTL : Caufield + Mtl first 2025 + CGY first 2025 + 2nd 2025
for
Wild : Kaprizov
Does he play Center? Seriously though, if he was a target, why not just wait until he's a FA after next year?

Most id do is 4 years,14 mil for evans. He is a perfect guy for a contending teams 4th line. But mtl cant be paying that when they are not even close to a playoff apot let alone contending. If i were a good team id try and get armia retained and evans as a package deal. Mtl will get a 1st for sure that way

Beck can fill in for Evans. I'm curious what the gap is in cost. I bet Evans is asking for 4 mill and we are offering 2.5 mill. Evans is a solid PK player and can contribute on the scoresheet, but he's a dime a dozen. Time to move on if the price isn't right. Win or lose, Evans doesn't move the needle.
With the cap skyrocketing, Evans agent knows he can get $5M AAV on the open market…

Very possible and I don't blame Jake shooting for the moon. It's his last contract, why not max it out. He's been a good soldier for us and will wish him the best if/when he moves on.
Wish him the best and I’ll miss him. Unfortunately he’ll likely get more money somewhere else which is why it’s important to maximize his value and get as much as we can for him. Hopefully package and get more/better asset(s).

The Devils have a top 3 PK so not sure why they'd be interested in Evans. Avs/Panthers/Knights/Oilers would make more sense. Most interesting asset from the 4 teams would be Calum Ritchie but if the Avs agree to it, that should set off all kinds of red flags for Hughes lol.

Evans will be a very attractive add for a playoff team. He's a very serviceable bottom 6 player but likely not worth the contract he is looking for. Perfect storm for a trade. I'd bet he is as good as gone.

I don't think it was a coincidence that Nemec was called up for one game against the Habs and then sent back down.

I wouldn't be shocked to see a trade involving Nemec and Evans. Other peices would obviously be involved.

Nemec for a UFA? Yeah... nope.

He was replacing Siegenthaler who was injured. Nemec for Evans is a bridge too far unless it’s part of a much bigger package.

I mean want to sell as much as the next guy but I don't want to end up like the Sabres.
Sabres are mainly there because they purposely sold everything to suck to get McDavid in 2015, then the resulting losing culture + bad player management (see Eichel) caused some key players to want out. We aren’t talking about trading ROR, Eichel or Reinhart here. Guys like Savard, Armia, Dvorak and to an extend Evans are replaceable and should be moved if we can get assets for the future.

100% agree. If anything they need to bring in quality vets to help even out the lows and know and show younger kids how to win.

Hughes has to be smart here. He will. Needs to auction Evans off. Maybe package him with Armia. I don’t think they should flush everyone. I expect them to keep Gally and Anderson.
Dvorak ain’t worth much nor is Savard. Maybe some picks for 2026.
Maybe Hughes has a surprise up his sleeve and someone overpays for Matheson.
Interesting 6 months ahead

i think Evans would be part of a package to NJD, as they could use his shutdown C depth for a long playoff run. If Nemec is the key piece coming our way, they will require Mailloux (min replacement).

Evans + Armia + Mailloux + CGY 1st for Nemec.

edit..
Come to think of it, nj wont be looking for draft picks, their window is ipening now (next 4 years). Scrap the CGY 1st, give them PITTS 2nd and Mesar

We also MUST either buy out Gallagher or trade him retained plus our 2nd this year.. the Habs veterans are horrific. They are doing more harm than good rn.
