HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread #90: 2024-2025 season part III

We better have a plan to replace him. Our centre depth can’t afford lose another C with no one to replace him. Penalty kill will take a massive hit too.

Adding a late round 2nd pick does nothing to help us. Starting to lose some faith in KH.

He hasn’t addressed our 2C, can’t find a goalie, and most of his trades have been losses.

We should be trying to lose at this point. This gives an opportunity to guys like Beck and Davidson to win an NHL spot. 2nd rounder will help in the summer when we should be trying to improve with the arrival of Demidov. Makes perfect sense rather than keeping a guy that’s never played above a 4th line level until his contract year.

I agree we're already challenged at center.

Dach isn't really a center. Dvorak is gone. So if Evans is gone, Hughes needs a plan to bring two centers in, assuming Beck is good to start next season at center.

I just don’t understand this sentiment. I get it with guys like Savard and Armia who are older, but Evans is homegrown talent. Developed by the organization. He’s exactly what we need to be adding to our lineup as we try to get out of this rebuild, not subtracting.

With the cap going up exponentially I don’t get the hesitation to refuse to pay this guy. Who cares if we overpay by 500k per season? Once we lose Evans and realize Beck (or anyone else in our organization) can’t replace him we will be searching for a player exactly like Evans. He is in the discussion for the best penalty killer in the entire NHL.

We are losing Dvorak this offseason, now appear to be losing Evans so we will be left with one C on our roster, Suzuki. Dach is not a true centre for this team moving forward.

Centre is a #1 priority KH

From everyone's favorite writer...

Says pretty much what Lebrun and Seravalli have been saying last week.
Adds Matheson as a player drawing interest. Also it says that Armia has much more value than people might think.

Mentions Cozens, Zegras and Dobson as potential targets. But also said on twitter that Dobson is only available for a top line player like Pettersson, which makes sense.

I've also heard Seravalli say the Habs are gonna be agressive. He mentionned the names Cozens and Pettersson friday.

FWIW.

As long as he doesn't get the short side of the bench all the time, the plan is on the ice for this game, wearing number 62.

Intersting that Habs and Evans far apart. I wanted to keep him, but odd they are far apart. I would go as high as $3.5M -$4M. Is Hughes at $3M or Evans at $5M ?

Some combination of Evans , Anderson , Mailloux , Struble , our 2 2nds, Calgary 1st for Nemec ?

Devils want a C , physicality and secondary scoring so Evans and Anderson provide that.

If Evans is gone, I expect Hughes to get a vet C for the bottom 6 next year. FA options:

3rd C: Frederic, Donato, Suter, Kerfoot, Gourde

4th C: Dvorak, Gaudette, Eller, Blackwell, Sturm, Faksa

Really not optimal.
Suter and Kerfoot both fit that mold. Suter isn't very good on PK though.

Lebrun is a mouth piece by organization, wouldn't be surprised if this was leaked to justify an imminent trade happening over the break

My guess is they are far apart on term. I wouldn’t be surprised if Evans is looking for 5+ year contract. Hughes stayed away from some of the UFA’s in the offseason due to the length of contracts handed out.
