He's definitely not going back to Nashville, he felt backstabbed so badly and it was one of the hardest things he's had to endure. While he probably loves Dallas, they have 6 forwards signed past this year and only 27 million in cap space (and Hintz/Marchment/Stankoven to sign the following year). It will be a challenge to fit him.

I read that we were his second team when he signed that contract with Dallas. He'd be an excellent short term addition.
And we can throw stacks of cash at him, short term deal with high AAV.

They have great offense already Thomas, Kyrou ... Dvorsky,Snuggerud coming soon, but their D is old. They acquired Broberg, but rest is above 30. They are already retooling.

...Hughes needs to get on the phone with Armstrong and tell him how great Matheson is!!...lie like your kids' Life is on the line, Brother!!... 🤣

Great offense im not sure. Kyrou has seemed to plateaued as a 65 point player. Rumblings earlier this yr prior to the coach being fired

Neighbour and Buchnevich regressed

Holloway a good addition.

Thomas i agree

3 yrs missing playoffs on non rebuilding team usually will lead to a drastic change at some point.

With that said, i could see them giving Monty a full training camp to see if can build them in his vision

For now the best solution for a LC, is to wait at the draft to see if we can trade up to get Desnoyers. If we can’t, then look on the trade market
yeah, of all the mock trades and UFA signings propositions i've seen, this is probably the solution that makes the most sense...Offer picks to move up to make sure you get Desnoyers and let him and Hage battle for the 2C spot.

I think Beck could have a try out as well next year..I mean he is a natural C that wins face off and plays hard.

The RD spot is more concerning for me, 90% of the teams are looking for one

unlikely that either thomas or kyrou would be of interest. If I recall correctly, they are both RH

Then you don't do it, either.

Finding the Slaf skill-set in some cases is harder than finding a Dobson.
I love the logic here. Finding a top-pair RD is impossible outside the top 5 of the draft so we absolutely have to draft Reinbacher over Leonard/Michkov, yet trading for a proven top 10 in the league RD is a big no no if it includes giving up a forward prospect who everyone in here is flaming every other game.

He was my 1st overall, but I am happier having Slaf considering that Suzuki Caufield and Demidov is not a very large group of forwards, adding Cooley to that would compound the issue.
This!!!!
If this team wants to win in the playoff, you'll need a mix of skill and grit ON ALL LINES!!!!

This is why i'm not for trading Dach and I want to keep Slaf. Neither my be top point producers, but their floor in terms of pts production + their ability to play physically is enough for me to believe they are part of the solution.

That's because the forward prospect is also hard to find. If we had Leonard, I'd have no issues trading him right now for Dobson.

i'm confuse as to how people can say Dobson is a top pairing D man and that MTL needs him badly. There seems to be a consensus that he's not much better then Matheson on D. Ok. the guy had a 70pts season once.... but i'm sure that he was on for the full 2m of any PP + all offensive faceoffs.

Get him and how do you devide the ice time with Hutson??? He wont make 70pts again and he wont improve our defensive play over Matheson.

Dont get me wrong, I want to move Matheson for a RD... just not Dobson player profile.

It’s perfect logic if you insist that Slaf is bound for greatness and Reinbacher is bound for greatness and every other team’s prospects and players are the worse version of themselves.

...I don't really get why not...sure, Mitts is a slower, cerebral guy and not an up-tempo Mover & Shaker, but he's got the talent and I personally think he might mesh well with Dach on RW and Slaf or Demidov on LW...and he's MUCH better than just continuing to throw Dach out there at C to look lost most of the time...

Better than Dach doesn't mean he's a good target.

I don’t get all the love for Dobson either.

He’s going to be expensive to acquire in a trade and even more expensive to get signed in the summer.

off a article I read

If Kent Hughes decided to submit an offer between $9.16 million and $11.45 million to Noah Dobson, the price to pay in terms of compensation would be two first-round picks (2026 and 2027), a second-round pick and a third-round pick, which is rather reasonable for one of the best right-handed defensemen in the Bettman circuit.

We're still talking about an imposing player at 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, capable of playing close to 25 minutes per game. In addition to his solid defensive play, Dobson offers impressive offensive production, as evidenced by his 70 points in 79 games last season.
Just to clarify, I believe that is true only if the contract is five years or less. If the contract is longer, the compensation is calculated based on the value of the contract on five years. So a 7x9.16M contract would require a compensation such as if the salary was at 12.8M, so 4x1st

What do you think about going after Nemec instead of a veteran RHD. Staying with Matheson for the next two years to work Nemec and Reinbacher into the pairings ? Nemec would have to start pretty quickly or it will get ugly, so is he good enough now to play bottom pair with Xhekaj ?

He'd be good enough now, I'm just not sure how we get him out of NJ. Perhaps for Evans and a CGY 1st that they use to get another player in another trade.
