So Buffalo wants a C of the same value as Cozens , and on top of that a RHD or young prospect. They aren't getting that obviously.According to information reported by the site RG.org, Buffalo would be looking to obtain a center player with comparable potential as well as a right-handed defenseman or a young prospect.
Not sure if this has been posted yet. I know he doesn't have a perfect track record, but he definitely has connections in the New York sports market.
Same here. Not sure if he's implying we were in on Dobson at some point but Vancouver's close to getting him, or if he's just suggesting Montreal because he think's we're a fit.Like you said he’s reliable with the NY stuff, especially with the NYI. He did had the scoop for MSL with MTL.
But I’m not sure I understand what he’s saying here
both teams on him?Like you said he’s reliable with the NY stuff, especially with the NYI. He did had the scoop for MSL with MTL.
But I’m not sure I understand what he’s saying here
Might as well. His value is also very low right now.I think we should keep Dach and plan to have him play wing. At the stage of the season is wouldn't mind us making that positional switch now to see how he does on the wing to give us some insight on what we have in him going into the offseason.
Dach + ? for Michkov
...your C, no matter what line it is, also has the most defensive responsibility of the Forward group, unless you have a winger like Marner on your team who plays like a fantastic C defensively...who's that on the Habs current roster??...In Laine's current shape and form I agree, it wouldnt work. But when he is back in shape I wouldnt rule it out in case we strike out on all possible 2C upgrade options.
Laine was very well suited to center, it even minimized some of the other flaws he has, for example that he is just not made (anymore) for the fast accelerations needed for wing. At center you will organically have much smaller need for those.
Pretty dumb comment by D'Amico. If the pick is like 5 spots better than expected which makes it "disastrous", then the player wasn't worth trading for anyways. Not like we're risking giving up a top 5 pick here.“Canadiens Looking to Add Young Centre”: NHL Sources Break Down Canadiens Trade Strategy on The Market
The Canadiens are eyeing Dylan Cozens, but trade hurdles remain. Could they pivot to another target like Bowen Byram instead?rg.org
Article for D'amico this morning, for those interested.
Talks about the search for another young center.
Also this from one of his ''sources'':
“Montreal won’t move their two 1st-round picks until they have more clarity on where things are going. Right now, Calgary is playing well above expectations, they’re also only six points away from 10-to-last,” said the same source. “If they make a move now and gift another club a top 15 pick, on top of other assets, it could be disastrous for them.”
Something i've been saying for a while.
Habs won't trade that Calgary pick until they know where it'll land.
...exactly...both picks should be in play for the right player...Pretty dumb comment by D'Amico. If the pick is like 5 spots better than expected which makes it "disastrous", then the player wasn't worth trading for anyways. Not like we're risking giving up a top 5 pick here.
Islanders have a lot of RHD already so maybe one of Matheson or Guhle would be of interest + Dach or Newhook + Reinbacher/picks
The issue becomes; is Dach prepared to become the ultimate 3rd line Winger? I dont think he is..I think we should keep Dach and plan to have him play wing. At the stage of the season is wouldn't mind us making that positional switch now to see how he does on the wing to give us some insight on what we have in him going into the offseason.
I should clarify I meant 2 separate proposalsThat seems like a lot to give up.
Was listening to LeBrun on Overdrive just a minute ago. He said look for the Habs to hopefully start making moves right after the break. They have alwayad the future in mind and haven't deviated from that plan.
But it is up to MSL to start utilising him in in a 3rd line winger position.Might as well. His value is also very low right now.
It's us being sellers, I fixed my post to clarify.I hope they keep Brodie the future and don’t make the mistake of trying to speed up the process by being buyers at the deadline and trying to make a big splash.
I think they should look to trade guys like Armia and Savard to contenders. Both are UFAs and don’t really fit with the long term of being a contender in 3 or 4 years. Retain salary on both and Montreal should get high draft picks in return.
