HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread #89: 2024-2025 season part II

The problem with this search is no team really trades away a 2C or top 4RD in their 20's. It's very rare. Especially if they are proven in the NHL. We have been rebuilding for several years now and our best center is Suzuki who was acquired as a B+ prospect in the Patch trade (by Beregevin).

Are we guilty of expecting our holes to be filled with trades or UFA signings?

I'm down if we get a mediator.

What I am saying:
1st or B prospect
or
Grade A and 2nd

What you are saying (edit if I am wrong):
1st
or
2nd and B prospect
Seems most posts are " KH can sign big UFA in summer" but those guys rarely hit UFA
a big trade will be the only way for KH to land a big fish I bet

Should be interesting to see how long it takes our new management to fill both holes... 2C and top 4RD. For all we know, they feel Hage and Mailloux are those guys and we are just buying time in the meantime.

The trades did heat up, as expected by some. Must be nice to be part of a fan base where the team makes concerted effort to improve the roster. Be it to strengthen for a cup pursuit or simply make a valiant attempt at a playoff spot giving the fans something to be excited about. Meanwhile back in Montreal, is that crickets I hear? lol

I'm still dreaming about adding Tage Thompson. I wonder how he feels about his teammates doing nothing when he got brutally headshotted.

Savard usually comes to camp fat and gets in shape over the season but this time he just stayed fat the whole season. Trade him to Colorado so MacKinnon can get him on some veggies

I got no issues if he's used to win faceoffs and play defensively. But Marty never punishes him for egregious turnovers that get other players benched. He then will use him on the PP, on 6 on 5s and religiously in OT periods. It's enough already. He f***ing blows offensively, stop using him like he's more than a bit player.

I think Marty tries to use him for matchups too much, he always starts him in OT with Suzuki but the plan is for him to take the faceoff and stay on the ice if he loses the draw and get off the ice if he wins. He definitely breaks line combos to try and get him out for crucial possessions.

There is some intent behind his usage Im just not sure it’s worthwhile by the numbers to sacrifice a good player on the ice in an important moment for 5-10% better odds at possession.

Part of it is definitely because he’s the only lefty C on the team and that’s important for faceoffs.

I'm down if we get a mediator. Does it matter to you if it's a sign/trade or not?

Agreed, but I assume for you you mean 1st and a B prospect.

People say this all the time, it's not showcasing. GMs know what he is and no singular GM is watching Dvorak and seeing how he can help them in offensive situations.
I think showcasing is more about how a player is playing now , Dvorak is actually a great example, as honestly I see him as a mediocre center however lately he has been very efficient and a team needing depth might take a chance on him for a 2nd or a third for their run , especially if they can’t get the top c available

That 3 years away to wait for those 2
Yea, if they're hoping Hage is a potential future 2C then we still need a stop gap 2C for at least the next 2-3 years.

If they go into next season with Dach (a 30 point, sub 40% faceoff center) at 2C I'll have next to no hope of us making playoffs.

Im not sold on Hage as a viable 2C until i see him in an NHL game.. at the moment he's showing he has the ability, but his production has tanked.. sure UM isn't stacked like BC or BU, but a legit NHL 2C should have stellar stats at the NCAA level.. it's not looking good for him atm.. hopefully he can start showing some form of "dominance" this year or next.. otherwise id be more than happy to trade him for a ready-now (25yo) 2C..

Dach is not a top 6.. he'd make a reasonably good 3rd line winger if his ego would permit it. Such a shame he didn't improve his IQ while he rehabbed last year. These "NHL wannabes" just dont get it: every shift, every game, every practice. You are being paid millions - wake tf up!!!
