NJ problem right now is grit and depth up front. That's their only issue right now.

With Evans and Anderson, you get 2/3 of a 3rd line. They would probably play with Palat on the 3rd line and on the PK. NJ wouldn't need to play Hischier and Bratt on the PK anymore.
HABS have the same problem. no grit

Listen bud lol, nobody is expecting much in return for Dvo but most understand he's not part of our future so we get what we get and move on.
yup
maybe a 4th rounder maybe

I think we also have to look at who on forward should realistically be starting with the big team next year.

Caufield-Suzuki-Slaf
Laine-Dach-Demidov
Heineman-Newhook-Anderson
Kapanen-Beck-Roy
Evans? Armia? Gallagher? Davidson? Tuch?

I think Gallagher's buyout would be contingent on whether or not we trade some guys like Armia or Evans (or even Anderson). I believe we have the young pieces that should be able to step in to those roles, but it's hard to predict.
That's not a playoff team, unfortunately.

What's with the LOL narrative?

Any roster with Dach at 2C and Newhook at 3C is a flawed roster. It's enough we have Dach learning to become a 2C! We don't need Newhook in a 3C spot and have two guys that can't win a faceoff. If this is the plan, we are in for a wild ride next year

You are right that they are not showcasing him. no need for that, but you dont devalue an asset by removing ice time or diminisingh their role.

His role should never be PP, especially 5 on 3, or being out there 6 on 5.. or even actually taking a shift in 3 on 3 OT.

The only reason that Dvorak plays in OT or on 6 on 5’s is because he wins face-offs. When the face off is on the strong side for a left shot centre Dvorak gets sent out (if it’s on the other side of the ice Evans gets sent out to take the face off). They don’t have another left shot centre who can win faceoffs. We saw this in OT against New Jersey where he took 3 face offs and then got off the ice (he played 3 shifts that OT for a total of 23 seconds).

They have to move on from Dvorak but they also have to address another left shot centre who can win faceoffs in the off-season.

It's about being better for the future, so better to just have the high leverage face-offs go to guys who will actually have to take them.

A left shot centre is a must.. but there have been times when Marty has intentionally deployed him in 3 on 3 OT. He clearly thinks way more highly of the player than he should and I can't wait to take his toy away from him. Somehow he escapes any criticism or accountability for his play. Even in games when he served absolute pizzas in the slot to the other team, he got a 5 on 3 deployment, just stupid.

This wasn't meant to be an accurate look at the roster, just getting all the names on there. I do agree though, and hope we add some bigger pieces to the team.

The question of buyouts is always if we have a suitable replacement. I think with all the turnover coming up next summer the Habs will make sure we have enough good vets + characters. Gallagher might survive the cull just due to that.
Gallagher is so bad at this point it's not hard to replace him.

The next forward on waivers would do an equal job to Gallagher.

1- Get rid of Dvorak, Savard and Gallagher (bought back).
2 - Use both of our first round picks to move up and grab Caleb Desnoyers in this year's draft.
3- Trade : (MTL) Dach + LHD prospect + pick for (BUF) Cozens + prospect
4- Trade : (MTL) Evans + Xhekaj + pick for (NYR) K'andre Miller... Once they get rid of Zibanejad
5- Sign Nik Ehlers (if the price isn't to steep)

Caufield - Suzuki - Slaf
Ehlers - Cozens - Demidov
Anderson - Newhook- Laine
Heineman - Beck - Armia

Matheson - Carrier
Hutson - Guhle
Miller - Reinbacher

It's not realistic that all these moves could be done but hey, always fun to try something up.
