HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread #89: 2024-2025 season part II

I'm down for the Evans++ for Nemec! I think the Devils seriously consider this if we offer the Habs 1st on top. Habs probably prefer to offer the Flames 1st instead because we would have to have our pick with lottery protection.

Dvorak is probably a 3rd or 4th round return.

Armia can get a 2nd and prospect. He will get a lot of interest if we trade him.

Savard could be a 2nd but not sure. He really seems to have run out of gas. Might be a 3rd
Armia isn’t getting a 2nd! People need to get over this idea! 4th liners don’t go for anything

Armia is not just some 4th liner though. I think he will gain interest and you need to get over this idea that Armia is just some 4th line bum. Contenders have weak bottom 6 depth and are looking for an edge. It's all about supply and Demand

I bet you thought Kulak would not get a 2nd either.... by the way you are talking about Armia today. ;)

Go away with your oversight at the supply/demand for TDL's.

Habs are in a good spot in terms of revenue generated. That is even after the CAD conversation to USD. Molson will spend max cap or be open to it. I have very little doubt of that. Habs operating income for the 22/23 season was $99M. Molson has spent more money for the Habs already and is still running a profit.
...
Habs are not spending up to max cap and have not for quite some time. So we'll see... Will they finally use the UFA market? Are they going to dish some awful contract just for sake of preserving some "culture"? Will they pay me 1 million cad to stop posting on HF?

Exciting...

They are with Price and we really don't know how much insurance is paying his salary. Or do we?

If you go to capwages.com and use the actual salary column, The Habs are at $87.8M in actual costs. That includes what we are paying Petry and Allen.

According to people like you, you actually believe top fowards who goes for a 2nd round pick every year and only top line fowards through 3rd liners are getting a 2nd or better! To think Armia is getting even a 3rd is a delusion level

Go talk to someone else with your belittle narrative. You're taking a very disinengeous approach and getting cranky now. How you comprehend to purposuely belittle and nit pick is in question. Those are what I think they return at best. And yes, it's possible Armia returns a 2nd like Kulak did. But you want to think I absolutely think he will return that which on you, not me.

Sorry, but I have no time for this approach. If you want to continue with your belittle approach, It's your choice, but then you go on ignore mode so I never hear from you again.

Did you see where someone else said Dvorak would return a 2nd and I replied saying I don't think it will be that high? Did you see me try to make fun of that poster? NO! Go take a break

Actual salary is not the cap though. Spending up to the cap means using the space available. Right now for instance they've accumulated 7 million in space. Regardless of why, that's probably because of Price LTIR, there's still room to spend, but they haven't done this in a long time. So now that the the cap will increase by roughly 20% in 3 years, it'll be interesting to see if it's because they want the revenue, or if it's just strategy to keep a large ~10% buffer.

Hockey Feed article on the cap...........wow!!
95.5M next year
104M the following year and 113M the year after that!!
NHL and PA approved.

I wish I remembered the Habs fan who was on my back hard about me saying the NHLPA outstanding balance will be paid off ahead of schedule. I said that right around the end of Covid.

This was something I posted 3 years ago and the 24/25 season was my tipping point. My guesses were close in terms of when the cap would rise but I had no idea by how much. Certainly did not predict it going this high.

what will the habs do with a pile of more picks? lol I know pick
but they have so many now
That's why I am proposing for future picks in 26 and 27. Those will be used to stock the cupboards. It also gives us assets that can be used as trade bait if we need upgrades. I agree. 2025 and 2026 we are stacked with picks. We can afford to package those ones (with Evans per se for a top 4 RD prospect). 2027 we can fill the farm system back up.

The cap this year is $88.5M and our actual salaries are $87.8M. This is an indication that Molson will spend.

I'll make a bet with you that we will spend to the max cap or close to it? Salary cap AAV's will be very close to the max cap and actual salaries can vary. That is hard to track year/year. I just showed you the actual salaries for this season as an example.

To be clear, Molson will spend max cap but it's connected to our rise up the standings. We are not going to spend our cap space just for the sake of it.

No because actual salaries are not entirely covered by the club. This is why it doesn't match the cap hit and space they have at the moment. So the more cash is covered through insurance, the more they pocket in, but the revenue stays the same, They just get a bigger share of the pie by having a lower Hit, that's my theory anyway.

Same kind of logic when you trade a player with a higher cap hit than the money he's owed. It's advantageous to the ownership.

Regardless of any context we can dig into, I'm personally not worried about Molson spending money to help us win.

Think about who the 13th and 14th forwards are next year? Do you really think it's a good idea to have one of our kids sitting and watching games? Dvorak is a decent piece to have for depth. Yeah, I know how that looks but I can see this happening.
I personally would go with Gally as a 13th forward and give Kapanen a full time spot on the W if he earn it at camp. For me, the Q is more, can we improve the C line. Suzuki is the only one locked in his role. Dach is trending up, but we can't draw a conclusion yet on him as a 2c. Evans may be traded... but if he stay, he's at best a good 3c, excellent 4c. So if i'm looking at that C line, I want insurance. Insurance that my 3C can step in as a 2C, I want him to bring strong 2way play and faceoff skills. I also want him to have grit/physicality, because Evans and Suzuki aren't the biggest guy out there. Dvorak does not bring this at all.

We will see what happens. I'm prepared for several different situations.

Just seems like robbing Peter to pay Paul. Our right side after that would be:

Mailloux
Konyushkov
...Sobolev? Kostenko?

We need more of what Reinbacher brings unfortunately, not less. I'd go after Nemec before I'd go after Pettersson
If we trade away some of our UFAs I would definitely look for some RHD prospect with size.
Like Tampa did years ago when they traded away Ben Bishop for Peter Budaj and Erik Cernak.
