Worked well earlier this season with SKA.Which is irrelevant to the fact they don't need another winger. Are they going to play Demidov on the 4th line?

I'd take a stab that the bottom 6 next season will look something like thisSlaf / Suzuki / Caufield
Laine / Demidov / Dach (or reverse Dach/Demidov)
Heineman / Evans / Armia
Anderson / Beck or Kapanen / Newhook
Gallagher
Hutson / Matheson
Guhle / Carrier
Xhekaj / Mailloux or Reinbacher
Struble
Comes down to this.
* If you bring back Armia, that affects Gallagher or Anderson. Not Newhook. So for as much as we like Armia, one of Newhook, Armia, Gallagher has to go or sit and watch games. It's very possible Armia is not back or there is a trade.
* Room for one of Beck or Kapanen (not both)
* Room for one of Mailloux or Reinbacher (not both)
* Savard can come back but that means we likely carry 2 extra D and 1 extra F. If Savard is not back, we can go 1 extra D and 2 extra F
Competition for Beck, Kapanen, Roy, Mailloux, and Reinbacher. There is no way we should be penciling in any of them next year. They got to earn it in camp and preseason games. Like Heineman did.
I'd take a stab that the bottom 6 next season will look something like this
Heineman-Newhook-Kapanen
Anderson-Evans-Armia
Gallagher
Newhook's play has been trending positively for a bit now. I mean he put up 34 points in 55 games last year playing a lot of C. He's got higher offensive upside than Evans going forward. Sure hope they didn't end up giving up a late first and 2nd for a 4th line winger.
I bet Dvorak is the only guy traded
Math should be, but won't
Armia wont be
Evans signs
so I guess the ? isI'm not even sure we trade Dvorak. I'm pretty sure it's like a 4th rounder return and not really worth it when we have so many picks. He provides more value to us in his current role for the rest of the season than a 4th rounder (maybe 3rd rounder at best.. IDK). I doubt very much that we want to derail Laval's playoff run
Not sure with Evans. That's hard to predict.
There will be phone calls about Armia, Savard and even Anderson. However, if we are in the race at the TDL, I think there is a good chance we just stay put

Do the habs buy?

Let's say you want to extend Evans but he really wants to test free agency and you can get a big return for him at the deadline.I would lose faith in this management group if they went out and got Yanni Gourde.
He's a 5'9 centre who will turn 34 before the Christmas break next year.
This would be an idiotic move and I can't imagine Hughes and Gorton are dumb enough to do this.
If we do, it's either us using our 3rd and 4th rounders or prospects we can spare (Mesar for example). Or we add someone that comes with term (ROR for example).
You would need to retain half of Dvorak Salary if you want a 3rd in return. This is crazy.
You think Jake Evans would fetch a 1st round and you think Dvorak would get a 4th?
Dvorak could easily return a 3rd and Jake Evans would never get a 1st.

You would have to replace him if you still fighting for a playoffs spot. Yanni Gourde is as good as Evans and is a rental. But the price to acquire him wouldn't be prohibitive because of his salary I think a 3rd round pick does it.
If Habs are forced to trade Evans before deadline, Yanni Gourde is a more than adequate temporary replacement for him for the rest of the season.
Well if Gourde costs us a 2nd and a 3rd, I don't do it and I keep Evans, even if it means losing it this summer. That's how I feel as well. I was saying 2nd and 3rd for Gourde but that is the high point. Cost could be lower. And yes, this is if Evans wants to go to UFA to get his bag of money and also if we are offered the 25-32 range 1st.
Gourde is not done. He's got game and gas left. His production when you look past the points is still very solid.

I bet we'll not only not trade Dvorak, but we may re-sign him next year too (for less money).
I think at the end, we sign Evans for 4 years at 3,5M$ per.I bet Dvorak is the only guy traded

Yeah off course for a 1st and a third but we will never get that return for Evans.Even if you get a 1st and 3rd for Evans (for example)?
Possible but it would be as the 13th or 14th forward. Injury depth and avoids having Beck play 5 min's a game as 4C vs 20 min's a game in Laval.
I bet they don't find any takers for Dvorak and Pezz and they trade Evans, Savard, Armia.I bet Dvorak is the only guy traded

If we fall off a cliff yeah.I bet they don't find any takers for Dvorak and Pezz and they trade Evans, Savard, Armia.
My logic is that we need a center who shoot left. So it's either him, either Newhook moved to center (not a bad idea to be honest, he was effective there last year, but he's not that good in faceoffs), or either we sign/trade for someone.Possible but it would be as the 13th or 14th forward. I would also resign Armia to a 3 years at 2,5-3M$ per

Plus he seems well liked in the room. May contribute more to the vibes than we believe. Just a hunch...
No doubt about it. Evans is well respected in the room and both Evans and the Habs don't want a divorce.
Lets list them then. That's crazy talk. Multiple teams would be interested in adding a bottom six centre who kills penalties and is 55 percent in the circle.
