Ehlers doesn’t fit on our team. We need more size for the eventual playoffs.

He's also hurt more than not and disappears in the playoffs.

Just want to mention that it's not a question of "owing" the Pens anything, it's about what he wants to do in the twilight of his career. And it's perfectly reasonable that he's more interested in giving back/helping the young guys then he is in chasing personal glory by going for another cup.

Now sure maybe he'd "help" more by being traded, but that's somewhat debateable. I mean a big reason a lot of us want him is so that he could have a lasting influence on our own young guys as they learn from him. In fact him helping by being traded is entirely dependent on how good the Pens scouting is, because drafting busts doesn't help. And drafting a bust is entirely likely given that the picks he would garner would be late 1st which are notoriously bust prone, and the Pens have been terrible at drafting for some time now.

It doesn't make sense but that's Crosby. The guy is probably still wearing the same cup he's had since bantam (and i'm not joking).

He doesn't change, he's a creature of habit and is extremely loyal. I'm sure if they approached and him begged him to go he would, but I don't see Dubas doing that. He won't want to be the guy that "traded Sidney Crosby from Pittsburgh."

The question reall is if you think Dach will be a Hab in 2027 and do you think he will be a big time contributor and at what cap hit?

Yes and no, keeping Crosby alone won't prevent them from tanking, but sure keeping all of Crosby/Malkin/Letang/Karlsson does. So perhaps Crosby is thinking well the team should trade the others but that he'll stay. And also worth noting they are currently at 12% odds of picking 1 or 2, Chicago who went the full tear down route is at 27% so the difference isn't all that big in terms of getting the "next" one.

Pittsburgh should have traded both with Letang and never trade for Karlsson.

Teams owe nothing to players. They are paid , have access to private doctors needs etc.

They should have done what Tampa did with Stamkos.

Move on.

yeah Kobe's team sucked for the last 5 years before he retired. Curry's team has sucked for the past couple of years. Their's been many other player's where they decided to finish with the team which drafted them even though they sucked
