Ehlers doesn’t fit on our team. We need more size for the eventual playoffs.
He's also hurt more than not and disappears in the playoffs.

The one smart thing Bergevin said that he probably stole was,

There are players that get you to the playoffs and players that get you through

Ehlers gets you there, but not through.

Ehler goes on to have 45 points this playoffs

Anyways, we won’t be hearing his names in trade talks anymore after that nasty injury he just suffered. Dude might be done for the season. Ain’t no team trading for him until they see what he looks like when he’s back.

Either way, will be interesting to see what kind of contract he’ll get this summer.

No, he's going to do what Mario did for him and that's mentor and bring in the next group of Penguins, to hopefully keep the torch of success to the new generation.

He's a Penguin for life.

Hard for me to understand.

The best thing that Crosby can do for the Pens is be traded.

He can always go back when he's 41 if he wants.

Also, he doesn't owe the Pens the rest of his career. That doesn't make any sense.

Just want to mention that it's not a question of "owing" the Pens anything, it's about what he wants to do in the twilight of his career. And it's perfectly reasonable that he's more interested in giving back/helping the young guys then he is in chasing personal glory by going for another cup.

Now sure maybe he'd "help" more by being traded, but that's somewhat debateable. I mean a big reason a lot of us want him is so that he could have a lasting influence on our own young guys as they learn from him. In fact him helping by being traded is entirely dependent on how good the Pens scouting is, because drafting busts doesn't help. And drafting a bust is entirely likely given that the picks he would garner would be late 1st which are notoriously bust prone, and the Pens have been terrible at drafting for some time now.

It doesn't make sense but that's Crosby. The guy is probably still wearing the same cup he's had since bantam (and i'm not joking).

He doesn't change, he's a creature of habit and is extremely loyal. I'm sure if they approached and him begged him to go he would, but I don't see Dubas doing that. He won't want to be the guy that "traded Sidney Crosby from Pittsburgh."

Kobe Bryant, Steph curry, etc.. guys that are satisfied playing for one team even when sucking their whole career

Keeping Crosby also prevents them from drafting the next Lemieux/Jagr/Crosby/Malkin.

But ok some athletes have a different mentality. Sundin arguably cost the Habs a Cup or definitely a Cup run in 2008 due to his values.

Yes and no, keeping Crosby alone won't prevent them from tanking, but sure keeping all of Crosby/Malkin/Letang/Karlsson does. So perhaps Crosby is thinking well the team should trade the others but that he'll stay. And also worth noting they are currently at 12% odds of picking 1 or 2, Chicago who went the full tear down route is at 27% so the difference isn't all that big in terms of getting the "next" one.

Pittsburgh should have traded both with Letang and never trade for Karlsson.

Teams owe nothing to players. They are paid , have access to private doctors needs etc.

They should have done what Tampa did with Stamkos.

Move on.

Imagine this line up on D

Matheson-Seider
Guhle-Reinbacher
Wifi-Carrier
Engstrom - Mailloux
For the future, I'd rather not imagine a D with Matheson still acting on the top pair. That said, I'm all for Seider. Too bad for Hutson, but that's it. Got to offer value to get value.
