0 chance Habs trade Reinbacher for NemecI'd be all over Nemec. He has played really well for the Devils, they just have too many defensemen. Offer them Reinbacher ++

With Demidov coming it feels like the core is setting into place so now KH can start fiddling with the marginal players and improving the roster at the low and mid levels.Man this team is outright daring KH not to be a buyer/make a hockey trade to make the team better
Matheson a hot and cold playerMatheson is getting some massive disrespect from several Habs fans. I 100% agree.
He's in a great spot now that we have added Hutson. Habs fans need to consider that Matheson is our RD search and it's very possible he wants to stay and we can get him on a value contract until he is 35. 30-35 contracts is not ideal but when you look across the NHL, there is still lots of guys who perform well in those years. Matheson is one of the better puck movers with his skating and I just don't see that fading that quickly. I actually think he is finally in a spot where he is playing with confidence and his maturity will improve, not go backwards.
If we can't get in on a trade to add a legit top 4D, Matheson should stay if he is open to a team friendly deal. Carrier is our stopgap to allow Reinbacher and Mailloux to develop. We have to let them develop the right way.
The penciling in young guys leaning on the job was OK during our rebuild but those days are behind us now.
If Matheson isn't contributing to the offense, he's straight up a liability. Matching him up with Hutson, has made this even more evident. Not sure, who i would replace him with but our run is even more impressive when you consider this.
Most importantly he hasn’t suffer major joint injuries over the course of his career - knee, shoulder, hip.100% He's a blue blood horse. Insane genetics or training or both.
This isn't true at all.. he had one bad shift last game but he's been very very good since being paired with Hutson.
On the defensive side, he's been decent at best. He's had way more bad shifts in this stretch, then just the 1 from yesterday. I don't know, maybe i'm not as tolerant as the average fan but when i see shit plays i call them out just as loudly as when the Habs score. If my memory serves me right, i feel like i've yelled quite a few times at the TV and it wasn't "good job matheson".
Agreed. Matheson has been a good partner with Hutson that allowed Hutson fully used his talents.I'll call out bad plays too and until that shift last night, I haven't noticed anything but good efforts and pushing the attack forward while allowing Hutson to dominate.
I mean I'd try Reinbacher alone first lolI'd be all over Nemec. He has played really well for the Devils, they just have too many defensemen. Offer them Reinbacher ++
I wouldn't if I can put my hands on Nemec.I mean I'd try Reinbacher alone first lol
I wouldn’t, disgruntled prospect don’t get traded for other teams top prospects. Plus NJ probably also wants immediate help given they’re contending. Something around Evans, Mailloux and one of our firsts makes more sense in my opinion, but what do I knowI mean I'd try Reinbacher alone first lol
Nemec can't beat Kovacevic for a spot on the Devils's line-up, but you put him with Guhle on the team main shutdown pair...Weird coïncidence that I brought up Nemec as a prime target for us, earlier this week ...
Canadiens Should Target Devils’ Prospect Simon Nemec in a Trade - The Hockey Writers Montreal Canadiens Latest News, Analysis & More
That would be a slam dunk. Nothing less.
Hutson - Matheson
Guhle - Nemec
Xhekaj - Carrier
Savard (at the deadline) and Mailloux (via trade for Nemec) are expendable...
Matheson can be traded away once Reinbacher is ready.
Evans (with extension) + Mailloux + Pick for Nemec makes sense for the Devils.
Maybe a 3 way trade can be made? That being said, as much as I’m enjoying this run and as much as I like Evans, if he’s gotta go in a trade for Nemec I think it’s a no brainer and then you hope that the team doesn’t suffer too much from it.Nemec would be complimentary to what Reinbacher brings. I also think that if he didn't get injured, any talk of trading Reinbacher would be squashed pretty quickly as he'd be Lavals number 1D without question. I just hope the injury doesn't set him back too much, but MCL is not nearly as bad as MCL+ACL.
Back to the subject, Nemec would definitely be enticing. I think Mailloux is who would go the other way, but I'm not too sure who else would be traded. NJ wants immediate help and Montreal is in a playoff race, they can't afford to send anyone.
