Ok but the initial offer from the quote was 2 first pick Mailloux and Beck , now you are changing thing the assets

Yeah, it's not going to be all futures and that many. I very much doubt it. He's 37 and still a star but that NMC is a big factor. Pens will probably like a Dach and 1st offer as a starting point and that alone might be enough.

Avs probably offer Mittelstadt and their 1st. That's the type of offers I would expect.

I'm 100% down if it's Dach and our 1st. Crosby for 3 playoff runs while we let Beck, Kapanen, Hage develop? Sounds good to me.

Newhook is going nowhere this summer. They aren't going to trade him when he is at his lowest value...

The problem with us fans is GM's don't evaluate solely on points. They look into much deeper context. Yeah, he appears to be at a low point but that's only when you look at the points. Big factor yes but he's young and on a bridge deal. A very good bridge deal I will say. That's the point of the bridge... to allow the player to improve as they approach 25+ which will be the real value from Newhook.

I’d give up quite a bit for Nemec. Then you can trade Mailloux before he’s even more exposed in the AHL
After 3 seasons of him being mostly in the AHL, the Devils might legit consider it. I'd actually start with a one for one offer for Mailloux, that could work out well for both players and teams IMO. Having the three best friends together has an added value for us development wise.

What would be a fair price to get our hands on Simon Nemec?

He's clearly a dependable assets for NJ (Hamilton, Hughes, Pesce, Siegenthaler, Dillon, Kovacevic, Silayev, Casey, etc.)... I think they are ok for a while lol.

I guess Logan Mailloux could be part of the deal? Jakes Evans if we can't get to an agreement with him?
From what I heard, Habs were not very high on Šimon on draft day, but we have to admit that he developed pretty well. Better than I expected, spending his first years in AHL focused on his defensive play. Last year, he was one of their best D, definitely top 4 as Hamilton was injured. He had some small injury this summer and did not start well. They have Hamilton, Pesce, Kovacevic plus Casey as a prospect.
They might try to trade away Hamilton and sign Kovacevic to free some salary. Casey is very promising prospect for them, but they would still value Nemec very high. I do not think they would look for D prospect, definitely not Mailloux.

The Devils want to win now. They’d trade Nemec for a really good active NHLer, not a prospect swap.

It's not just one run. We are not limited to just one move either.

If Crosby is traded, the package will be:
* NHL player (Dach quality)
* 1st rounder (most contenders can only offer late 1st)
* Grade B+ type prospect (Mailloux or Beck type)

We would still have plenty of assets to trade for someone like Dobson.
I don’t see that happening, IF Crosby even accepts to be traded he will limit his destinations to a handful of teams, and if the deal is to go down during this season, only 1-2 of those teams will even be able to find a way to fit him into their cap.

Dubas has little to no leverage here and I find it hard to believe he will walk away with 3-top end assets as mentioned../ shocking actually

It's certainly possible. It depends on how much fate they still have in Nemec I guess, they might jump at the chance of switching him with a comparable prospect, if they feel like he won't develop any further within their system.

Pens will say Crosby stays and they look at their options on draft day. NMC is a huge factor and the cap space for contenders (I do agree) but the Pens need incentive to make this move and I doubt Crosby wants to screw them over.

Lets dig into Nemec a bit more... What are his flaws?

By golly! I think they are liking it!

Replying again... I'm like 1/100 on trade proposals. Is that bad or good?

If that's what it takes, then I say to Crosby you should have picked another team as your childhood favorite. Too rich for my blood. And I think Crosby is one of the top ten players I've seen and I've been watching hockey since the mid-60s.
Is it really too rich though? I agree if it is for only 2 years then that is too much, but if Sid is willing to sign and bring our youth to SC contenders the value is irreplaceable

Mailloux is nowhere near Nemec. Nemec is in AHL, because NJD have great depth at RD and they wanted him to develop. He was top 4 in NHL for them last season.

I have not seen one fan dislike that proposal on the main boards. Lots of Devils fans liking it or think it's workable and other fans are saying it fits as well. That has to count for something.

Agreed. Nemec is playing on a crappy AHL team as well. 29th in the standings and 31st in goals for. That's not a very offensive or deep team vs the one Mailloux is playing on.

That's what i mean by F%$/ up our rebuild, no way i am giving up these 4 assets for Crosby.
Crosby as 2 maybe 3 good years left in him.
Dont know about you, but i feel our first window is the next 3 years. Sid helps that.
Our SC window opens up from years 3-10.
Picking up Crosby is hands down the most brilliant move a GM can make. If we are truly a playoff team, then im happy to spend the assets even though it might not be enough..

Pulock is interesting, but he doesn't help offensively on the ice and his numbers are more ok than good.

You'd also not be getting him "for almost the prime years of a dman". His game has already started to slip. With the rising cap his contract isn't awful, but its not great.

He also has a full NTC, and would need to want to go to Montreal (and Lou would need to be willing to move him, which I don't buy for a second).
Islanders are boring as f***, so i tend to avoid those games, but if he's slipping already then he's an easy.pass..

Moving Dach to Crosby without removing anyone else from the roster (maybe newhook) would be such a coup it’s not even funny.

We wouldn’t trade have 2 strong lines.
I would even consider putting Caufield on Crosby line to create a pure Exploitation line

Pulock would be our best Dman with Guhle

I wouldn't say its an easy pass. A good defensive RD who is mobile is something every team wants (depending on cost).

IMO his value to the Islanders is more than he's worth in a trade, so I don't see the fit.And has there been any serious rumour of him wanting out or being available (he's got full trade protection)?
