Right now I'd take a risk at McTavish or Cozens...if the price was low enough.

OR both...

I'd put both our first on the line for those two. IF they work out we not only have two more 2C but also deeper into their development.

Add Demigod, Hage and Rein...we have the makings of a really good team in a few years.

I agree, if the price tag is for a 2nd C. I don't see either lasting as #1.

I wouldn't trade Suzuki 1 on one for Petersson Nick is so consistent and getter better every year at almost 4m less and 1 year ago.

I’m salivating at Evans’ potential return at the TDL. Hoping he doesn’t get injured until then.

I hope he signs the biggest fattest deal he can come July 1st. And if he lives up to it, good for him! We’re still too far away to make such a commitment to a complimentary player who happens to be an ultra late bloomer.

Your top-pairing D and 2nd line C options to acquire this season or this off-season?

Weegar (CGY), Dobson (NYI), and Granlund (SJS) come to mind. Am I out to lunch?

The problem with Weegar, or Andersson from the Flames is Weegar turns 32 half way through next season.

Andersson, who's a bit younger and fits better has his contract up and you're looking at being essentially forced to pay Andersson a lot to keep him as you'll have to pay a lot of assets to acquire him.

Dobson fits into the group perfectly. Can't see the Islanders dealing him unless there's something that makes it clear as day they're now rebuilding, or Dobson wants out.

Granlund will likely be looking for a contract to take him to the end of his career.

He's produced well in San Jose, but I have to imagine he's getting fed top minutes, which he won't get here.

He's another sub 6' centre who's sub 50% on the dot and is on the wrong side of 30.

If he is going for that contract to finish his career he's an easy pass.

I think we could use some maturity. We have a very immature team. Weegar and Andersson are both worth acquiring in their own ways.

It would require Michael Hage… who *would* be expendable if Dach and Newhook weren’t such mega busts… but as it stands we can’t afford to lose so much draft capital between all that was spent to acquire Dach+Newhook+Hage. It’s left us depleted.

Other than Hage what do we have to offer to get a medium-big fish? We need a top pairing dman and a 2C.

Don’t think it’s much of a risk. He has been PPG+ last two season. Cole is on pace for 77 which isn’t even close to EPs 89 last year.

Depending on Calgary/Florida's pick that could be used.

There is... well, Ekblad. With him and Bennett as ufas Florida can only sign one and while I'd like Bennett, Ekblad might be that ufa.

Whatever they do, I think it’s clear they need to acquire a legit RD, a 2C, and some vet help on the bottom 6. This summer they have to add quality vets to the lineup if they are even close to sniffing being in the mix.

him I think it’s a no brainer. We haven’t had 2 offensive star Centers on the team in over 30 years. Hage could be it but he’s at least 2 if not 3 years away. I also cringe when posters are calling a 80-90 point player a lemon. Perhaps he could be our first 100 pt player since Mats Naslund almost 40 years ago, which is quite a depressing stat honestly.

We know Caufield. No idea if Petterson is a disruption in the dressing room and why he faded last year and was mediocre in the playoffs. HuGo would need to answer those questions before considering an offer.

Yes, more proven, right age, good production and it is easier to acquire top wingers than 1st line center.

Even if he 'only' has 70 pts and Suzuki also has '70' points that would be exactly what you need to compete. Two offensive center that can drive their line.

IMO the ideal trading partner for us at the TDL could be Carolina. They have some interesting RD in their system (Legault and Morrow) and they could maybe trade one of them for immediate help for their playoff push

Petterson is SOFT......don't want him under any circumstance. Playoff quitters who cripple a team with their huge salary are worse than generic 4th liners on cheap deals
