I think his value is situational. If there’s a team out there that needs RD depth and not much on the market, I think he can get a second. I agree with you that he’s unlikely to garner a first. He's worse now. He's really slowed down. A second is probably his value now just for his pk work. He's a bottom pairing/pk killing D.
Carrier was out in final minutes of last night's game not Savard.
Teams that could use a bottom pairing RD who can PK include: Minnesota (30th), Calgary (27th), Edmonton (26th), Ottawa (24th), Colorado (22nd) & Utah (18th).
Savard to Utah for 2026 2nd & 3rd round draft picks (they have extra picks) would be a solid deal for both teams, especially with Utah pushing for a playoff spot.
They need vets beyond this season. 100% they are trying to deal Savard.Hughes said they needed veterans on D when he acquired Carrier. No chance they trade Savard.
I'm liking this...
Renaud is good when it comes to players from QuebecYou realise it comes from Renaud Lavoie right
This. Savard is still a vet presence and some what reliable in a limited role. If Montreal wants to make overall progress for the reminder of the season, I think they keep Savard until TDL and only trade him if we are still a bottom team and he don’t show sign of wanting to resign here, which would greatly surprise me.Hughes said they needed veterans on D when he acquired Carrier. No chance they trade Savard.
If someone is paying a 2nd, you deal him and then deal a 4th for a vet like Troy Stecher, or someone else who's a vet and isn't worth much.Hughes said they needed veterans on D when he acquired Carrier. No chance they trade Savard.
I would ask for a 2nd for eachYes, and Dvorak will have interest as a 3rd/4th line guy that can pk. At 50%, he'll be worth his depth player value.
There are teams interested. Toronto fans are talking about him. Minnesota, Dallas, Colorado & Winnipeg will all be interested in adding a 4th line center.
Armia & Savard can both be moved without retaining.
Dvorak can't be moved without retaining.
He's good when the agents are from Quebec, not just the players. Ex: Pat Brisson, etc...Renaud is good when it comes to players from Quebec
They won't move Savard to move up from a 4th to a late 2nd. It would have to be the equal of a 1st and Savard would understand. If someone is paying a 2nd, you deal him and then deal a 4th for a vet like Troy Stecher, or someone else who's a vet and isn't worth much.

I understand that Savard deserves respect, but please open your eyes. He is the worst D on the team now. He is just too slow for the game. We should not be protecting 34y old vet in a limited role. No extension, we will not get 1st or 2nd for him at TDL.This. Savard is still a vet presence and some what reliable in a limited role.

Or maybe he acquired Carrier so we still have a vet when we trade Savard at the TDL…Hughes said they needed veterans on D when he acquired Carrier. No chance they trade Savard.
There is no way to know yet. If d are in short supply at the trade deadline a team really needing help could offer more than he is worth.I understand that Savard deserves respect, but please open your eyes. He is the worst D on the team now. He is just too slow for the game. We should not be protecting 34y old vet in a limited role. No extension, we will not get 1st or 2nd for him at TDL.
Savard is gone.Hughes said they needed veterans on D when he acquired Carrier. No chance they trade Savard.
Bang on. Taking the foot off the pedal is how this team falls back into the same hole of its paucity at center, that has plagued them for over 30 years..That "glut" of centers is still a ways off, and there's no guarantee all of Beck, Kapanen and Hage will make it. Dvorak will be gone next season. Dach and Newhook may end up being wingers. Signing Evans for four years doesn't mean he cannot be traded away 2-3 years later, should all three of those prospects do hit their potential.
A team can almost never have too much center depth.
Struble is no longer waiver exempt, sadly. They should send Struble in Laval. Can't remember his last game with us. We should probably trade/claim or call up a 28+ vet to be our #7 D.
Is very surprising/weird to see a healthy Habs for once.
Kind of ridiculous they didn't give him time to marinate knowing they were choosing between Xhekaj and Barron. But I'm sure he's glad to get an NHL paycheque.Struble is no longer waiver exempt, sadly.
