I dont know what to make of Trouba. When i watch him play, I like his game and think he is solid. But the way hockey fans talk about him, you'd think he's trash defensively.

I dont know.

Habs need a centre. that is where KH should be hunting.
they have lot's of picks and prospects. Hunt KH "sound the horn"
To be honest, CLB has a lot a player that can play C, young ones, but a few. May be worth trying to get one from them.

they need a centre way more than a old d man
Savard is pretty much done. Barron and Mailloux are not good defensively and can't eat hard minutes. Reinbacher has 11 games played on NA ice and will have missed most of this season anyway.

A defensive minute eating RHD is the biggest hole right now. Not sure Trouba is the guy to fill it thought.

The center depth might not be contender quality, but only Dach is struggling on it and that's much easier to manage for the team.

Do you mean in future seasons or this one?

Having Suzuki and three 4Cs is a big contributor to how poorly this team has performed. A lot of what people have blamed on young defenceman or a “bad” system is a symptom of being extremely weak in the middle of the ice.

Evans isn’t struggling by his own standards but there’s absolutely no way he should be anywhere near the top-6. Dvorak is hardly an NHL player most nights and is on our third line. Dach has been ineffective no matter where he’s played. Condotta isn’t an NHL player. There are maybe five other NHL teams with comparable or worse center lines.

I have more faith in Guhle/Matheson and Savard at RD than whatever we’re trying to pass off as capable centers this season. I’d rather Savard and Hutson on the second pairing than Evans/Dvorak on the second line.

Medium/long term though? Yeah, we need some better options for two-way RD.

Struble + CGY 1st, next we draft Schaefer, then we trade two of Matheson, Barron, Mailloux for a hard worker in front.
I pass on that idea. Jiricek is another Rasmus Ristolainen to me. Keep that Calgary pick. Good chance it's Desnoyers or Spence.

Schaefer will go first overall, slim chance we get that pick. I am looking at drafting between 5-10, and 14-15th.
