If he performs as well as he did the last 20 games of last season for the next 20 games of this season, he'll have 5x his point total & be on pace for a 50 point season.

You’re just being obtuse now. He’s worst among the starting forwards. There are 4 forwards below him in points. Rookie Kapanen with his 12 games. Career AHLer Condotta with his 7 games, career pressbox bum Pezzetta with 3 games and career AHLer Barre-Boulet with 2 games.

But yeah, Newhook and his 4 points in 20 games (15 mins per game) is "average". Not dissimilar from your thought process

As a stopgap? I’m seeing more and more comments suggesting that Suzuki profiles better as a 2C.

I would say yes. The only way we can improve on Suzuki is via the draft, and that will take years. I say this because we aren't a likely destination for a big-name free agent center, and those are rarely traded.

A 20 game sample size as the basis for determining the permanent ceiling of a 23 year old player is a pretty terrible way to make an assessment... But if that's your thing, enjoy!

He is probably a dud. If Waddell had anything to do with drafting in Carolina he knows talent. And Kekalainen didn't. Get him cheap or forget it.
