I wonder what if management has a trade in mind. On one hand, another high pick would be very helpful long term, but on the other hand, the way they're playing is very concerning. They a stabilizing presence both up front and in defense. Monahan and Savard did that last year. Savard's game has gone down the drain though. It's too bad Trouba would never waive to come here because I find he'd be able to do that job.
1 trade won't be enough to stop us from having a top pick.

Let's see what everyone can do with a reset of the lineup. Adding Laine could be a big boost to everyone. They are all feeling pressure from their positions and expectations on the team. Laine could relieve some of that pressure.

When he suits up....

Slaf - Suzuki - Caufield
Laine - Dach - Newhook
Anderson - Dvorak - Gally
Heinemen - Evans - Roy
Armia

We are 20 games into the season...playoffs are out of the question...im down for being patient now.

If we choose not to be patient......both Norris and Jiricek are interesting pieces.

Roy + Engstrom for Jiricek?

I'm not sure opening a hole in our LD depth for another RD who can't play D is a good idea. Send them Barron or Mailloux, I have no issues with it.
How are both Roy and Engstrom enough for a RH Defenseman drafted in the top 6.... You will need to add Calgary first round pick.

Maybe, then I feel comfortable in not trying to up the ante higher than that. If it's not good enough, pass. I feel like the draft pedigree has been lost, all that is left with Jiricek is another management issue in convincing him his game is not NHL caliber, and he needs to learn. Like... Barron, without the concussion.

I just think he's overrated. If he's worth much more, then he needs to demonstrate and stick in the NHL.

I don't know how he's looked in the NHL but was a fan of him at Michigan and he always seem to give Laval trouble back when he was in the AHL.
He’s looked good enough to be the no. 2 center when healthy but he’s struggles with injuries and has a large cap hit. Not surprised to hear they’d move him.

Josh Norris to Nashville is making a lot of sense.

Trotz been looking for a top 6 center since day 1

Instead of rebalancing the proposal I will simply add this:

The reasons why CBJ liked Jiricek and Lindstrom (and liked them more than other prospects they could’ve picked!) haven’t changed. To entice them to give those sorts of prospects up requires a partner to offer even more attractive players/assets/cap benefits.

To get both of them from CBJ would require Demidov+Reinbacher+… and we don’t even want those two prospects so badly. It’s a total no go.
Jiricek was drafted by the last GM. Waddell may not have any use for him. Lindstorm they would likely want a lot for and if they didn't other GM's should wonder why.

I wouldn’t want to get too loosey goosey with the cap, but Norris fits our needs pretty ideally in terms of age/experience/position/skillset in both the short and medium term. If he can be had for a combination of lesser assets because of that big cap hit (I.e. deals around Newhook, Barron, Savard), I’m curious whether Hughes would be interested.

Don’t think I can handle the drama of another injury prone player though.
