We could all tell by Pacioretty’s 3rd season that he was special. Chicago got rid of Dach, a3rd overall after 3 seasons only and is now in his 6th season and look terrible.

I don’t like the fact Chicago gave u on him so fast and I think they saw something that I think we are now seeing. Part of it must be his lack intensity, his nonchalance and his poor work ethic.
Im with you.. i would expect after 1 year off with access to the best medical medicines, unlimited wealth, would work on his IQ reading of the game.. he should have been studying the game tape hour after hour of every player for 6 hours each day. I expected him to be slow physically.. but to have such a low iq as compensation has dropped his stock..
At best hes a top6 W.. at worst he's a 3rd line C if he catches up physically.

Romanov, Fairbrother, 2022 3rd (66th), 4th (98th), 2023 1st (31st), 2nd (37th)

for

Dach and Newhook

I am not sure I trust G/H to make trades anymore.

I mean that's basically a nothing package for two, at worst, middle six forwards. Romanov still isn't a huge loss, though obviously many would rather him over some of our other d. But he doesn't beat out Guhle of matheson at LD so it's the same problem we have now.

Dach getting a full knee explosion in a fluke accident isn't exactly a scouting issue. It would be like saying patches was injury prone from Chara breaking his neck.

Newhook sucks though ngl. Just a vanilla player with no standout attributes. I'd do the Dach trade again but I'd definitely not do the newhook one. Rather roll the dice on random prospects.

Romanov is better than both easily, and the 31st and 37th hurt.

Dach has had injury issues, and wasn't exactly doing well in Chicago, who were quick to be rid of him entering a rebuild. it's telling.

Newhook is pretty much what he was in Colorado, and was never worth that trade package.

Kent Hugues was a good friend, or had a solid relationship with Newhook. I think he went to newfoundland when he won the cup. I think he overpaid to bring him

Romanov was dealt to make room for Guhle, Xhekaj

These may all be right.

But we won't know after 20 games of a seson.

Dach did well pre-injury. Let's see how he trains this year and comes back next year.
Newhook had good moments last year. Let's see how he progresses with age.
If Matheson plays well enough to have good trade value next year, that will be a great trade for Petry, who had negative trade value a year after we dealt him.
Xhekaj still has a ways to go. Hope he gets there.

After Hage, I'm excited to see what Hughes will do with the Calgary 1st - and if he can land a 1st for Savard...

We have to all-in for Jiricek.

RHD, big, physical, good shot. Mobility is a problem, hockey sense maybe.

I loved him in his draft year, had him #3 OA over Slaf.

Only Demidov is off the table. Perfect age for the core.

Reinbacher one for one?
Who can't crack the Columbus Blue Jacket's roster.
If you want a good Dman you can't be trying to fix the insanely stupid reads he's making at this stage in his career.

Does he look anything even remotely close to what Kaiden Guhle was in his first year?
At some point you have to determine the slot selection is irrelevant when assessing an asset.
For Beck...
f*** OFF is my response.

Romanov is absolutely not better then Guhle...

And Dach was great in the bubble before his unlucky wrist injury that trade was fine

Maybe all that time spent hanging around the meeting rooms last season wasn't so great after all. :dunno:

I would not mind trading for Elias Salomonsson, very interesting two-way right-handed D. 6-2, 185 lbs, drafted 2rd/55th overall by Jets. Would could even be a good trading partner with them as they lack depth on left D side. Their 3LD is currently Haydn Fleury, Matheson 50% retained could do the deal.
