I'd easily swap a couple lower end a prospects for Jiricek. Like Mesar and Mailloux.

What happend to Kulich?

He's an upgrade on Pezzetta who hasn't played in like a month, or once in a month.

It's more of a new look player than anything

He can compare Ottawa and Montreal and see which one is more f***ed

i think this would be one of those trades that haunts us.. Rainman has the it factor, but, inujuries? thing is D men take years to develop and some can stay in the league well into their 30s.. Jiricek must have a few warts for CLB to be so down on him.. I def want to give him a try, but only at the possibility of adding a RHD - not swapping. IF that is the req then i think Mailloux would be the one.

When are you going to admit that you're a Habs fan? Few people hate the Habs as much as Habs fans, you'll fit in great!

I don't think Habs are interested in moving Beck. We're in a precarious situation when it comes to centers and sorely lacking guys that bring a good mix of skill, grit, and defensive ability in our lineup AND in our prospect pool. Additionally, the difference between Jiricek and Mailloux is minimal. Similar age, similar skillset, similar weaknesses, and I'm not sure if we'd be any more keen to play him in the NHL than Columbus. Leaves us with Reinbacher, Barron, Jiricek, and Mailloux all fighting for a spot in the NHL next year. Doesn't make sense.

So if you're looking for a Habs deal, maybe a deal around Mailloux for Jiricek if MTL management felt it was a significant upgrade, but I think it's unlikely.

What “pick” would be the add? Quite the difference between a 1st and a 5th.

And if they pick you’re adding is anything but a 1st, I think several teams can beat that offer easily.

Great for 2 seasons in the AHL, 2 goals in 12 games in the NHL this season.

No, you would be wrong again. Both started coming into their own in their D+5, I don't know why you would not count the seasons they spent elsewhere after their draft, it's frankly disingenuous not to. Pacioretty in particular was a draft pick many were bashing until he asked to be sent down and made strides in his game. Dach did in his D+4 then got a major injury in his D+5 that has derailed his progress. Newhook was very good down the stretch last year and was pacing for 50 points. Lots of players are looking bad this year due to the team being dysfunctional on the ice, it's hard to make any projections on the roster right now due to

Dach has just physically recovered from ACL surgery. Psychological recovery will take an undetermined amount of time.
I think we may be fortunate to see to see some hopeful signs at first intermittent,by the last quarter of the year. We must be patient.

R u kidding me? If CLB wanted Beck for Jiricek in 1 v 1 trade, i would personally run from Toronto to Columbus to hand deliver the signature.

This insane speaking.. i love Beck, going to be a great 3/2C for a decade in the NHL.. but if you get the opportunity to add a 2/1 RHD you have to accept. I am so tired of the constant over-evaluating of out prospects.. stop it..

I saw Jean Luc Grand-Pierre recently say that there is concern that Jiricek can't process the NHL speed (hockey IQ). Is it true? I have no idea but he is back in the minors.
I have watched Beck play every Laval game and I wouldn't be so quick to trade him for David Jiricek.

No way to know for sure what Jiricek is. He may be a dud. Beck is not a dud. Is Jiricek even good defensively. If HuGo think he is as good as Reinbacher they would do it. If they don't they will have no interest in him.

You're literally trading one bust who'll serve as a career journeyman for another one who'll make it, but as a specialist. Montreal wins the trade, of course, but it's shuffling deck chairs at that point.

We have Suzuki, Hage projects to be a top 6 center and we’ll probably draft another top center this year (Hagens, Misa, McQueen, Desnoyers). Probably gonna re-sign Evans too.

Beck will be at best a 3rd line C on this team, maybe a 4th line C. Good 3rd/4th line centers get traded every year for 2nd/3rd/4th round pick.

If we can trade from a position of possible surplus to fill weakness why not. Especially since the player we would be acquiring in this scenario would have a much higher ceiling. Trading a player that projects as a 3rd/4th line for a player that has top pairing RD potential? I do Beck for Jiricek no doubt. I’d add too. Beck+Mesar, Beck+Roy, Beck+2nd,Beck + 2 of our 3rd round picks in this upcoming draft. Beck+Barron. Why not.

That’s assuming he doesn’t have attitude problems... If he does then yeah pass...

Do you feel that having two big, dumb, slow offensive dmen with big shots on the right side is a recipe for success? I’m all for having one, hoping they develop, and celebrating the good things they can do well, but Jiricek AND Mailloux?

David Jiricek trade value right now is at all time low.
Its not he doesn't know how to play, its because he needs to improve his defensive game.
His offence is good but he tends to look around in the defensive zone.
He's now a project with high potential.
Similar to Kirby Dach when we traded for him with Chicago.

I think Jiricek trade value is a first round pick and a second or third round pick or someone like Justin Barron and 2nd round pick.

I get that Reinbacher hasn't had a stellar curve since drafted, but neither has Jiricek. In fact, I'm pretty confident people who be apocalyptic about Jiricek performance so far.

The potential Reinbacher also fit better than the potential Jiricek on the team.
